A lover of the great outdoors, Cole would spend her time hiking and scaling rock-face's alone. Not quick to make friends she was able to escape the reality of her life in the purity of the mountains. She lost her father at a young age and was brought up by her preening mother, a glamorous singer in pursuit of excellence for herself and her daughter. She sent Cole to a prestigious performing arts school, which she promptly absconded from. When approached by Sensei Wu to join him and learn the ways of the Ninja she accepted gladly, perhaps feeling it would be another way to avoid her life and hide her feelings behind a mask. What she didn't expect was to find the beginnings of a new family that would enable her to find a different kind of strength and understand who she really was.

The first to be recruited, she had the opportunity to welcome each new individual member and show them the ropes; a responsibility she took seriously. For a while she felt like everyone's mentor and was mistakenly looked to as some sort of leader. She always knew this was not the case and expected everyone to change once they settled in. She did not expect the perky, annoying Jay, to stick to her so completely as she did. Jay's mouth would run away with her at times, but strangely enough Cole kind of liked the white noise. She knew someone was there and she wasn't alone anymore. Though rare, she did actually find Jay funny and found that she would search her out above others to hang out with. She was also in awe of her beauty and hoped she would pick up some tips from her to try and impress Nya, who she had a bit of a crush on, but didn't want to admit to it. When it became apparent that Jay's crush on Nya was very real and on going, Cole repressed any such thoughts, as she felt loyal to her new friend first.

There was one disastrous occasion that Jay decided to makeover Cole. She stripped the black kohl from her eyes and pulled back her hair in a perky ponytail. Made her over in pretty pastel shades and a cute mini skirt. Unfortunately everyone thought Cole looked like a dude in girl's clothes. It was almost funny until Nya walked in, looked shocked, blushed and walked out again. This was the only time Jay saw Cole cry and cuddled her until she felt better apologising the whole time that it was her fault.
