I went to my closet and put on a black dress with ballet flats and a pearl necklace, which my brothers had given me as gift before leaving home once again.
After putting my hair in to a braid I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs. Oliver was already waiting for me. After locking the door our hands interlocked and stayed that way till we stopped in front a large marble building with strong standing pillars and perfectly trimmed topiary bushes placed neatly by the sides of the glass doors.
It was quite intimidating, but after one look over to Oliver, who was softly smiling, I quickly calmed down and gathered my frantic thoughts. We entered the large hall and I saw many other students all looking about our age.
The teacher, a woman with a neat bun and preppy taste, came through the hall, wanting to open the door, but stopped when she saw me. ,,You must be Sophie! It's nice to have you here in our legal practice course.
I'm sure Oliver will help you out if you need any assistance, but I doubt that after seeing your last name!", the lady said while unlocking the door to what I assumed was our workspace. Mason said that only the rooms of the core classes are called classrooms since the other courses aren't classes, but as the name says courses.
The courses were more of a free work situation, which definitely appealed to me. After we all entered the room, Oliver explained to me that every student has their one desk and workspace, since most students in the room were prepping cases for the junior law court themselves.
I was astonished at how independent the other kids were working, as the quite sound of computer keys clicking reminded me of the office my father had once taken me too. I sat down at my desk that was conveniently right next to Oliver's.
,,Hey, so what did miss Harrings mean about your last name?", Oliver asked after passing me a cup of coffee, that I gladly accepted after the night I had. After taking a sip I laughed and said:,, My mom was a lawyer too, and she wrote a couple small books here and there."
,, Wait, your mom was the Juliette Arlington?", Oliver asked and I quickly shushed him, not wanting the whole class to hear. ,,She's a legend!", he said in a sort of yell-whisper. The excitement in his voice made me laugh. ,,I guess", I meekly replied and turned back to my desk.
After flipping through the book of school laws, I started looking at the files to the case I had been assigned. The briefing on how to work case in their system, which Oliver had given me, seemed quite clear yet challenging.
But as my brother Victor would say, the Arlington's never back down from a challenge.
So after about an hour of reading through files and documents, I noticed a notification flash on to the screen of my thinkpad. I guess Oliver must have gotten it too, since he started to put his files away and grab his belongings.
I read the notification and decided to do the same as my desk neighbor. ,,You ready?", Oliver asked as I took my bag from the side of my workspace. ,,Yeah, what class are we going to?", I asked, already having forgotten the information my thinkpad had just given me.
,,Med 1, didn't you see the alert on your device?", Oliver answered. ,,I did, but I still don't know what it is", I said smirking, which made him laugh as he grabbed my hand and we started walking out of the hall.
It was about a short walk across the huge campus. But it also gave me a chance to see some more of the campus. The time quickly passed, as I was busy looking at all of the houses, fields, gardens and gyms. Oliver made sure to point out the cool attractions and important sights. Every building we passed looked different, which was because they all had different purposes as Oliver had mentioned.
