"It's summer time!"

Halos magtatalon na sa tuwa at excitement si Jeremy. It's summer vacation and he already booked adventures for us bago pa man matapos ang klase. Napili niyang magsummer getaway kami sa isang waterpark.

The place is called Medusa Waterpark, located at a town which is five-hour drive from Bridle. Madaling araw pa lamang ay gumayak na kami para kahit papano ay mahaba-haba rin ang ilalagi namin sa waterpark.

"Yeah, it's summer time," wika ni Math at napahikab. Binuksan niya ang shotgun ride ng kotse ni Gray at doon pumasok.

I also yawned as I open the backseat. It's three in the morning and only Jeremy is hyper about this trip.

"Hoy Maya! Bakit diyan ka nakaupo, palit kayo ni Bestie!"

I rolled my eyes at isinandal ang ulo ko sa bintana. I don't care who sits where, ang importante ay makatulog ako sa byahe.

"Nah, I want to sit beside Gray," Math said, sounded so sleepy.

"Ang epal mo talaga," bulong ni Jeremy ngunit hindi iyon nakatakas sa pandinig ni Math.

"What did you say? Epal?"

Jeremy pouted and shook his head. "Epal? Ang bingi mo naman. Apple kasi sinasabi ko, medyo may accent lang. A for 'epal', B for 'bell'..." He pronounced it exaggeratedly. Tsk.

"Don't exaggerate your pronunciation Jeremy, baka masanay ka. And it doesn't sound cool if you exaggerate it. If you're having a hard time with your pronunciation, I'm the best person you can consult. I can help you with that. I am articulate in that field. Kaya nga madalas akong pambato for public speaking, debates, poems etc. Hindi lang kasi content ang kailangan sa mga ganoong paligsahan. You also need to focus on the form but never sacrifice the substance. Substance over form yes, but if it is me, I do good on the form, better on the substance and that's what makes me the best. Dati noong junior high ako, ako ang palaging..."

Hindi ko na narinig pa ang ibang sinabi ni Math dahil umisog sa tabi ko si Jeremy at iniabot sa akin ang isang earbud niya. Agad ko iyong tinanggap at nakinig na lamang kaysa sa mga pagbubuhat ng bangko ni Math— ops, sorry, Je's term, not mine.

The door on the driver's seat opened at pumasok doon si Gray. Agad kong ipinikit ang mga mata ko pero bahagyang sumilip. He fixed his seatbelt at napatingin kay Math na mukhang hindi pa tapos sa kanyang mga pinagsasabi.

He then turn his eyes on us at kahit bahagya lang akong nakasilip, nakita ko ang pagkunot ng noo niya. His jaw clenched as he looked at Jeremy and me. Magkadikit ang ulo namin habang nakasandal sa headrest ng upuan, at nakakabit sa tenga namin ang magkabilang earbuds ni Je.
