Chapter 9

They said 'If others can do it, you can too'. I replied, 'If others can do it, then let them do it'

"Natsu, wanna play one on one?" That was the first question I heard upon walking into the gym.

Sighing, I turned around my eyes meeting Aomines shining ones for a brief second before moving back to staring ahead. "Maybe later, I don't feel like playing basketball right now."

"You never do," Aomines sighed while running his fingers through his recently cut hair. "As a matter of fact, if you never feel like playing what's the point of showing up to practice, much more joining the team?"

As soon as he finished his sentence, another voice added in, "I would like to know as well, Natsuru." Turning around, my sight was immediately filled with the fluffy bed of red which was Akashi's hair.

Holding back a groan, I looked up at the ceiling for a moment before looking back at the two curious gazes, although Akashi managed to cover up his curiosity a bit. "Because I love the sport, plus its mandatory to join a club. And basketball seemed like the best choice." Well, that technically wasn't a lie, but it wasn't fully the truth either.

The reason I signed up was because I loved basketball and the schools club policy helped, but those weren't the only reasons why I joined, my train of thought was cut short by the sound of the whistle and the captain's loud voice calling for everyone to gather around.

Placing my towel on the bench, I walked over to where the rest of the team had gathered around the coach and captain Nijimura. Clapping his hands, the coach scanned all of our faces before speaking out.

"Now I have an announcement," Upon hearing this I yawned, whenever the coach has an announcement it is usually just a pep talk about how we shouldn't slack off on the training since a game is coming up soon. This action, unfortunately, earned my an elbow between the ribs by Akashi. Looking back ahead I began to listen to the coach once again, not wishing to be elbowed once more. "Well, instead of me telling you how about you hear it from the captain himself."

Nijimura walked forward, clearing his throat before he began to speak, rather loudly I must say, "I am stepping down as your Captain, as most now I'm having trouble at home at the moment and I am very busy. But do now worry the Coach and I have already chosen the new captain if you please." He waved his hand, guttering for the next captain to walk up.

To my utter surprise, along with some others, Akashi walked to the front. A half of a smile on his face as he bowed slightly, "Hello, everyone. Starting today I will be your new Captain. I look forward to leading you all to victory." As soon as the words left his mouth, shouts of protest came from some of the second and third years. All of which were along the lines off how a first year could possibly be captain and that the job should go to one of them instead.

Blowing his whistle once more, the coach silenced their shouts before nodding towards Nijimura who nodded back in thanks. "As I were saying, Akashi-kun will be the captain replacing me starting today. I will still be on the team and helping out as much as I can but not as often as before. Do not give Akshi a hard time, understood?" His light grey eyes shining dangerously in a way saying not to question his decisions and agree or else there will be trouble.

Once no one else said anything, Nijimura clapped his hands once again before smiling and saying, "Now, begin practice."

"Congratulations, Aka-chan," A said while patting the redheads shoulder. Practice had just ended and we were in the locker room changing out of our sweaty clothes. It was only the two of us and the others. Everyone else had already left while the six of us had decided to celebrate Akashi's promotion to captain.

That and we all had extra practice, that part was solely Aomine and Murasakibara fault. The two of them somehow got into an argument and pulled Akashi, Midorima, and Kuroko in somehow. I have extra practice since I accidentally fell asleep on the bench while waiting for my group to play.

"Yeah, no one else could be captain but you, after all, you're the sanest person in the group." Aomine laughed while wrapping his arm around Akashi who shrugged him off while glaring at him.

"Please restrain yourself from touching me while you're covered in sweat. It is disgusting."

"How mean, you're covered in sweat too," Aomine said before heading towards the showers to take a quick shower.

"Everyone is covered in sweat but Natsu, he should be but he lazed out most of practice all he did was eat pocky and sleep, he ran for a total of 30 minutes today," Akashi said while shaking his head.

"I'm actually surprised he's not fat, I mean I've never actually seen him work out when he wasn't forced to," Midorima added, while the other two agreed.

"Hey, what is it? 'Gang up on Natsuru day'? So rude, I'm right here too." I pouted while throwing off my shirt to replace it with my school uniform. I gotta wash it anyway.

"That's gross, go take a shower," Midromia said while glaring at me.

Rolling my eyes, I leaned back against the locker, " I refuse, I'm sleepy."

"Even after sleeping for most of the school day and practice? Wow," Kuroko Said causing Aomine to laugh and me to pout.

"Kuro-chan~ I thought at least you'd have my back, but I guess I was wrong." I stated before leaning back and closing my eyes, "Wake me when you're done."

"No, seriously, take a shower Natsu, Hygiene is important even if you didn't really sweat much." Akashi scolded while grabbing my arm to lift me up.

Groaning I stood up after a few annoying seconds of pulling. "Jeez, ok, ok, but i'm just gonna rain myself off, you cant protest unless one of you decides to wash me up." Upon hearing my words, a few of them blushed but before I could see if they really were I was forced into the shower room by Akashi.

"That's fine, just rinse off the sweat." And with that, he left me in the stall.

After a few seconds of mentally cursing him out, I turned on the warm water, shrieking softly when cold water came out first but calming down once the water changed to warm.

I stood there under the stream for a few minutes before I deemed myself clean enough and walked out of the stall and grabbing my towel to wrap it around my waist.

Walking out of the shower room and into the locker room, I felt eyes on me but I ignored it as I grabbed my uniform and slipped it on once again before turning around. I raised an eyebrow when I saw everyone with red tinted cheeks and their eyes anywhere but near me.

"So, i'm clean and i'm tired so if were are gonna celebrate can we hurry it up?" I asked while picking up my bag. That seemed to snap everyone out of their trance because they grabbed their stuff and we walked out of the locker room and towards the front of the school where we met an annoyed Momoi who scolded us about keeping her out their all by herself.

After talking for a bit we decided to go to a karaoke bar for a bit. Of coarse Akashi and I disliked at first but then they mentioned free food and I was sold. After convincing Akashi we made our way to the karaoke bar.

It is a cliffhanger but I hope it keeps you guys entertained for a bit. The next chapter will be a mini gag chapter about their adventure in the karaoke bar. After that chapter, Kise will come in so all you Kise fangirls, be patient!
