Part forty-nine
-3 months later-
I woke up, and I felt something weird. There was a pain that I didn't normally feel in the mornings.
Holy shit. I was going into labor. Ricky wasn't in the room. I was freaking out.
I screamed. Screamed at the top of my lungs. I heard pounding foot steps, and I screamed louder.
"Ash, Ash! What the fuck is going on?!" He screamed concerned.
"Ricky I think I'm going into labor!" I screamed out of breathe.
"Holy shit!" He yelled helping me up.
We go up not even thinking about putting on my shoes. He helps me walk to the car, and runs to the other side of the car.
He gets in, and starts speeding down the street. I'm breathing heavy, and squeezing his hand with all my strength.
I keep on apologizing, and he keeps on saying it's okay. We pull up to the hospital, and there are a crowd of doctors. They take me and Ricky into a room. They propped me up on a bed, and Ricky was just contacting everyone.
I was starting to scream, and Ricky just dropped his phone. He ran up to me, and started calming me down.
The doctors come in, and gave me the epidural. I started to calm down, and then the contractions started up again. Then it happens.
-one week later-
Ricky's POV
I woke up to a silent house. Ashlyn wasn't in the room, and I didn't hear Elijah Blake, our son, crying. I slowly get out of bed, and walk out to the living room.
Ashlyn was there holding Elijah on the couch. She looks exhausted. I sit down by her, and she perks up a little.
"Morning." She yawns.
"Morning. How long have you been up?" I asked concerned.
"Since 3:30 this morning." She says.
I knew why she had dark circles under her eyes. Her hair was a mess. She just didn't look to well.
"Here let me take him, and you go back to bed." I said reaching for Elijah.
"No. I got it. I'm fine. He's been up since 3:30. I have enough energy t-." I cut her off. "Go to bed. You haven't gotten any sleep. You're drained. You have dark circles around your eyes. Go to bed now. I got it, okay?"
She nodded, and handed Elijah to me, before kissing me.
She walks slowly to the bedroom, and I hear her fall onto the bed. I sit down, and watch my son open his eyes.
He had Ashlyn's grey eyes. I smiled at that, and kiss his forehead. He yawned, and nuzzled into his blanket.
There was a knock on the door 20 minutes later. I get up with Elijah still in my arms, and answered it. It was Chris and Melissa.
They melted over Elijah. They were just studying him. Their eyes just glued to him. I laughed slightly, and invited them in.
"Where's Ash?" Chris asked concerned
"She's sleeping. She had been up all morning, and hadn't really had any sleep." I answered.
He nodded, and Melissa was still looking at Elijah. I was starting to hand him over to her, and she looked up. She gave me the 'are you sure?' Look, and I nodded.
She held him, and smiled. I was sitting there talking to Chris, and then I heard something from the bedroom. I turn my head towards the hall way, and I look back at Chris. He heard it too. He nods towards the hall way, and I get up.
I walk down the hall way, and see the door was closed. Ashlyn didn't close it when she had gone back to bed. I knocked on the door, and said "Hey babe? Is everything okay?"
"Y-Yeah." She answered.
"Can I come in?"
"Hold on."
I come in anyways, and her back is turned towards the door. She has one arm up to her forehead which is on the wall. I can hear her crying, and I walk over to her.
I lightly touch her shoulder, and she freaked out. It scared me. She never did that. She was breathing hard, and holding her stomach.
I wrapped my arms around her, and she broke down. I laid her down, and still had her in my arms. She had her hands at her head, and was just sobbing.
"What happened?" I asked her.
"I don't know. My stomach and head just feel like a knife is stabbing them." She cried.
Without hesitation I got up and got her some painkillers. She had water with her, and she sat up when I entered the room. I gave her the pills, and she swallowed them.
"Better?" I asked.
She nodded, and rested her head on my shoulder. She sniffled, and I put my arms around her.
I looked around, and saw what made that noise I heard. She had broken one of her picture frames. It was a picture of me and her. It was the picture of us kissing in our graduation robes. The day we graduated. One of my most treasured moments with her. She knew it too.
I unwrapped my arms from around her, and went to the broken frame. Glass was everywhere. I picked it up, and she saw it. She covered her mouth with her sleeved covered hands.
That was her favorite picture of us, and the fact that she knew she broke the frame was heart breaking to her. I picked up the broken glass, and threw them away.
I came back into the room, and saw Ashlyn standing up, and looking at the photo. I wrapped my arms around her waist, and looked at it with her.
She was smiling slightly, and kept her eyes glued to the photo. I kissed her neck, and felt her relax, yet tense up at the same time.
That made me laugh slightly, and made my grip tighten. She tensed up, and I loosened my grip, but still kissed her neck.
She looked up at me, and turned around. She wrapped her arms around my neck, and I wrapped my arms around her waist. I just held her. The best part about this was that I could hear her every inhale and exhale. I could also hear the beat of her heart. It made me smile, and I just wanted hold her until she let go.
