Prologue

"They're sending you where?!" Victoria asked in shock, flopping down on her bed. Brandi scowled, and threw another shirt into her bag.

"To live with aunt Jackie in Australia." She muttered, chewing on her lip ring. "Something about me clearly not being able to handle it here. I dunno. I stopped listening sometime after they called me a 'poor excuse for a human being'."

"Come on, Bran," Victoria said, taking a pair of pants out of her twin's hands. "I'm sure they don't mean it. Give them a day or two to cool down. I doubt they'll actually send you to live with aunt Jackie. I'm pretty sure they're just worried because you were expelled from the fourth school in three years."

"Vic, you are my only sister and my best friend," said Brandi slowly, looking the other girl in the eye. "But I will not hesitate to tell you how stupid that statement is. They're not worried for me, they're worried about they're precious reputations being soiled by their punk-ass daughter. Because let's face it, that's all I am to them. I'm the kid they couldn't train to behave in public. They can't take me to fundraisers and dinners and shit, because I hate it. And they hate me because of it."

"That doesn't mean that they're really going to send you to Australia." Victoria flopped on top of Brandi's bag, making her growl.

"They already bought me a one way flight ticket." Brandi muttered. "I leave on Saturday."

"What, no!" Victoria sat up quickly, nearly falling off the bed. "How could they have gotten a ticket so soon?"

"They had already bought it when I got home at lunch." she replied, picking up more clothes to put in her bag. "Mom said dad bought it the second they got the phone call about my expulsion."

"So you're leaving me here with all these assholes?" Victoria growled. "That's not even fair!"

"You won't be alone," Brandi said, not looking at her sister. "You have friends. You know, Alexis and Katie and that one blonde bitch who I punched in year nine."

"Yeah, but none of them are you!" She whined. Victoria looked like she was about to cry and Brandi, having never been very good at comforting people, patted her shoulder. Apparently, Victoria took this an an invitation to throw her arms around her sister's waist. "Don't go!"

"Uh, I don't think I've got a choice." Brandi muttered. "Besides, maybe it'll be good for me. Aunt Jackie is a lot more lenient than mom and dad. She won't yell at me when get a tattoo or if I'm a little late for curfew."

"I take it mom and dad don't know that?" Victoria asked, head resting on Brandi's hip.

"Do think they'd send me to her if they did?" she replied, taking a pile of recently cleaned clothes out of a basket. "Now get the fuck off of my bag. I have shit to pack."

"Can I help, at least?" Victoria begged. Brandi snorted and shook her head.

"Absolutely fucking not," she stated. "I've seen how you pack. I like everything somewhat organized, thank you very fucking much."

"I'm not that bad!" she whined in replied, finally moving off Brandi's bags.

"Yes, you are," Brandi told her. "But you can hand me things, if you want."

*************************************

The few days later, Brandi found herself standing outside her aunt's house. It had been a long flight and she'd had to sit next to a man who told his life story to anyone who would listen. It probably wouldn't have been so bad, if she hadn't to listen to an hour long lecture from her parents while waiting to board the plane. She wasn't sure exactly what was said, however, seeing as Victoria had stood behind them the whole time, making stupid faces and mocking them.
