January 2018

Gelsenkirchen, Germany

I saw him again, couple days after his engagement day with Cecilia. He looked hundred or thousand times happier, he smiled and laughed often. I daresay that he’s probably the best version of Leon I known for my whole life.

I thought be with the one who you truly loved and loved you back could bring out the best of you.

And ironically, I caught myself staring at that engagement ring around his finger over and over again. I just couldn’t help to not rest my eyes at it no matter it hurts.

We were accidentally running into each other at the street in front of our favorite café, he’s all by himself when he offered me to have a hot chocolate which I hardly find any reasons to reject. In fact I don’t want to reject it.

It’s been very long time since we didn’t do anything together since time was like drifted us apart. I know I was pathetic to think that I deserve a few times with him, just both of us.

And here we are, at our favorite spot at the corner of café, staring outside to the falling snow while enjoying hot chocolate bonding with conversation just like the old times.

“So, I expect you’ll back to Vienna?” he asked.

I bite my lower lips and nodding. “Yes, five days again.” I gulped. “Are you happy?” those words slipped from my tongue.

“Uh, why?” his expression was torn between confusion and weird.

I shrugged. “Just asking.” I looked down to my cocoa mug before looked into him again. “Are you happy?”

As I can see that wide smile cracked his mouth, I should now the answer.

He nodded. “Yes, very much.”
