Part 2
The library was filled with books. Like filled with books. I walked up to the lady behind the desk. I smiled politely.
"I would like to check the blueprints and/or layouts of the Northern Wall of Briggs." I said.
"Identification."she said coldly. Though, she always talks like that. "Oh! Right! My apologies." I digged under my uniform and pulled out my silver pocket watch. "State Alchemist Raven J Kimblee." She looked at me quickly. But then back down. She wrote down my entry. She then walked to the back were all the books resided. She then brought back two books. Not as thick as the others normally were.
I took them gladly and walked over to the fathers table. I flicked open the book started reading. In order for this to go right, I must know everything there is to know about the Northern Wall of Briggs.Once I finished the first book of layouts. I moved onto the next small book. It was more about how is was made and what happened to make it need work.
It's been a while. And I can honestly say. Learning is boring! I don't need to know wait the past General ate before the Drachma soldiers started to attack them! But its whatever it takes to make sure this mission goes right. Who knows. Maybe after this people will look at me without thinking of Solf. . .
I shut the book on the last page. I leaned back huffing.
"Thank you." I said as I laid the book on the counter. She looked at me. Then the clock. And then to her sheet of paper she had previously wrote down on.
"Okay." she said. I nodded and walked out. "Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen." It's a little thing I do. I am thinking or have nothing else to do. I list off the elements in order. There are other reasons I do this. But short version is I just do it at certain times.
"Vanadium, Chromium, Magnesium, Iron, Cobalt, Nickel, Copper, Zinc, Gallium." I ran into something. I looked up.
"My apologize! Second Lieutenant Maria Ross!" I say almost surprised.
"Major Raven. . ." She said. I smiled. "Just came back from the library. Are you headed there?" I asked. She nodded.
"Be careful. She is a bit nippy today." I chuckled.
"Hmm." she said.
"Well, uh. I'll see you around?" I said. She nodded and started to walk past me.
"Germanium, Arsenic, Selenium. . .Bromine. . .Krypton. . . Rubi. . .dium. . ." I quickly walked over to the nearest staircase and hid under the free space. I could hear faint footsteps over my quiet sobs into my legs that I had pulled close to my chest.
"Hey, are you okay?" I heard a voice. I looked up a bit surprised at the fact that they didn't just walk away. I looked up. My face red and flushed. The footsteps were right in front of me. Doesn't matter. They will see who is crying and then walk away.
I sniffed rubbing my nose. "Um, ye. . .yeah. I'm alright" I said. He sat down.
"I don't believe you. What's your name." I put my head down. This is it. I could lie? No. If I do then if he finds out he won't trust me.
"Raven. . .Raven J Kimblee. . ." I mumbled.
"Hmm? Wait was it? All I got was Raven." he had golden eyes and hair.
"Raven J Kimblee." I said louder. He seemed to be taken back. His face expressed how shocked he was. I looked back down.
"I'm the famous Solf J Kimblee's daughter." I said annoyed. He didn't say anything. I'm guessing he saw my gloves cause he asked.
"Do you have Kimblee's Alchemy?" he asked. I nodded. I took of my left glove revealing the moon symbol. He seemed to inspect it. "Can I see your other palm?" I nodded putting on the glove only to remove the right glove.
"Can I see both?" he restated. "I don't take both of them out unless I'm on a mission. But Fuhrer Mustang didn't let me on missions a lot. Wants to keep me under his watch. Everyone hates me." I say. He looked confused.
"You must have at least one friend?" he said. I scoffed and shook my head. "Only thing that likes me is Lieutenant Hawkeye's dog. Black Hayate." I said.
"That's odd. There so nice with new people. Mustang can be a jerk. But deep down he is really nice. In his own. . .special. . .way. And Hawkeye. . ." he stood up forgetting about looking at my palms.
"My name is Edward Elric. I'm going to talk with them. Care to join." I didn't have anything else to do.
I stood up brushing off some dirt from the floor. As we walked in the ball I tight end my gloves around the wrists.
"I should stand in the back." I said. He shook his head no.
"Nah. Your gonna stand next to me. Be confident!" he said. He seemed a bit older than me. I'm twenty.
We arrived at the Fuhrer's office quickly. Edward busted into the room
"Hey Mustang!" Fuhrer Mustang stood up with a smile. "Fullmetal! Long time no see!" he looked over at me then frowned.
"I made a new friend ya see?" he said presenting me.
"Ya know who she is?" he said. Edward nodded
"Kimblee's daughter. Yeah I know. She seems really nice!" he said. Fuhrer Mustang glared at me. "You should be going over the mission.." He said coldly.
"I did sir. By the time I got there it was over. I got the details and familiarize myself with Briggs' history and layout. I also familiarize myself with Drachma." he nodded.
"Who killed Drachma former leader." I looked at him.
"Solf J Kimblee sir. My father." I said. He nodded. "Let it be known that Kimblee was a-"
"That Kimblee was a mass murderer and used the Drachma to carve a crest of blood at Briggs. I know. Anytime you assign me to a mission you remind me how much of a sick and twisted monster he was!" I said.
Fuhrer Mustang nodded. Lieutenant Hawkeye was standing by his desk.
"I heard that you were visiting Fullmetal." He just completely ignored me. Edward looked at him with disbelief.
"What's wrong?" he said.
"You just completely ignored her question!" Edward said.
He shook his head and pressed the bridge of his nose. "It doesn't matter." he said. "Lieutenant Hawkeye. Escort Major Kimblee out." I looked at him dumbfounded.
"If she leave. I will go as well!" Edward stated. I couldn't tell if it was said coldly. Or proudly.
Hawkeye stopped and looked at Fuhrer Mustang.
"It's no worry! I'll go." I soluted and made my way out. I could here Edward talking once I shut the door.
I hate the Fuhrer! He treats me like a second rate citizen! I know I shouldn't! But I can't help it! I try everything!
I did get a mission. And the day is almost over. I heaved a sigh and started for the front desk.
"I'm leaving for today." I said.
"Alright Major." she wrote my name down and I walked outside.
