Part 3: Estranged.
O.J....
"He will need to still stay off of the arm and keep taking the meds until you are done—dont slack off because med rebound is not a pretty thing. The slinky is wayy better to help with showering." Doctor Quincy Gray told us as he exhaled, "Im going to see if the prescription is ready and we will be done here." He walked out of the room and it went awkward. Teddy pulled out his phone and started playing on it.
"I got a job. I start tomorrow." I told him to break the ice and he coldly replied, "Cool. How much an hour?"
"17, actually. 10 hour shifts. Weekly pay. Olyver and Zoie dont want me to pay any bills so once I stack enough hopefully before your 8th grade and get us an apartment or—."
"Us? Ill move to New York with my grandparents if Uncle Olly tells me to go with you. I actually called your Dad and he said it would be cool." He told me and I exhaled.
"And when the fuck did that conversation happen?" I snapped.
"The day you got out and I figured you will play the emotional guilt card and try to get me to move with you sooner or later." He told me and I scoffed. Isnt this about a bitch. I havent spoken to my parents since I was fucking released yet they been running around talking to my son. I stepped out of the room and dialed up my Dad. It rung and rung and then he picked up.
"Hello—wait one second. Raise it just a tadbit High Julio—see this is why we hire people to come do this." He stated before coming back to the phone.
"Hello." He asked.
"Dad, its me O.J." I stated and it went silent.
"What cat got your tongue—dont be txting or calling my child when you havent spoken to me. Its estranged between us and you filling his ear with all your bullshit aint gonna help our situation." I snapped.
"First off O.J, I can speak to whoever I feel is worth my time and my grandchildren are always worth my time—."
"And your own child isnt? You wont even know I was out of prison without goodie-two-shoe ass Olyver. This is my life, TEDDY is my fucking child. MINE." I yelled.
"That he is....I have to go before Julio burn our firm down. And it was nice to hear from you." He said in that Deejay shady ass Cartina tone. I rolled my eyes and hung up the phone and snapped, "Fuck!" My siblings always use to tell me after all the shit I put my parents thru and all the bad shit I did will come back on me...my own son wants my brother to be his dad—hell he have been. I have one secret that Teddy would be destroyed by and its the only reason why I aint tell Olyver to confess to my son that he killed his mother. They are all pushing me to a cliff that they dont want me to go off of.
Quincy returned and handed me the papers. I opened the door and snapped, "Lets go!"
Olly...
"Dream, its just crazy. You know I love O.J, but Teddy's been acting so weird. My husband wakes up all hours of the night with night terrors and sweats. Add a demanding ass job to the mix—Im surprise Im only doing Breaks in MargaritaCove and not in a damn alley with Hobo Henry doing cocaine." I told my sister via facetime and she burst out laughing.
"Stop being dramatic. Like I told Dad and Pops they cannot be interfering with him getting back in good graces with Teddy. Same goes for you—dont go cold turkey but slowly stop doing the Dad things. Show and teach O.J. He left when Teddy was still eating cereal, indian style, with spiderman drawers on. Be patient." She told me before smiling. We stared at one another and she knew my thoughts. She always takes O.J side and I mean I get it—she and him are close. Always have been.
