"Give me one more go at it, and I'll surely make it this time."
I felt the heat of the sun's rays cascading down my back, causing sweat to form on my brow. I could hear the breathing of the horse's breath coming in and out strongly. His heartbeat matching the rhythm of my own heart.
One more go and I can surely make it.
" Hiyah!" I yelled loudly while hitting my leg against the horse's body. We took off flying in the soft, grassy meadow. My red crimson hair matching the sky's vibrant color as the sun starts to set for the day.
Flying wildly, I could taste the air of honey surrounding me along with the wooded trees. At that moment I became air.
I spotted my target that was coming up. All I had to do was shoot the target right in the red. I positioned my bow and arrow like I do many times before.
I then got myself into position. That's when everything around me zoned out. The only thing I could hear was my own heartbeat, beating from my chest and into my ears.
"Thump, thump...."
"Not yet."
"Thump, thump..."
"Hold it."
"Thump, thump...."
"Now!"
My fingers lightly eased off the arrow like a knight ready to unleash it's fury on his enemy's flesh.
"Whhhzzaaattt!" The arrow made, while piercing through the air to reach it's destination.
"Whoa whoa!" I said to ease the horse. I then examined the target to see my work. "Oh cheese!" I yelled. "I missed the whole target!" I jumped off of my horse and started stomping the ground and punching the air, to try to deal with my frustration.
"Aaaahhh, how am I ever going to be useful!" I screamed out loud to myself.
"What do you mean your plenty of use to me." Said a familiar voice.
I wasn't surprised when I turned around to see Ren coming towards me on his black horse.
"Of course not to you because you force me to give you food and fair maiden's preferences on whether they adore you or not." I said in a snarky tone.
"Yurri that is pretty useful for anyone." He said while chuckling. His raven black hair blowing in the breeze awaiting for his hair to fly, while his green eyes glisten in the sun.
I turned away trying to hide my blush. I've been friends with Ren ever since my parents had died. He was there to take care of me. So we are kinda close friends or to him more like brother and sister.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"I should be asking the same thing, what is a young lady doing out here all alone by herself?"
"Young lady!? I am a lady okay, I am sixteen!" I said defensively.
"Hahaha, your too cute!" Ren said while ruffling my hair.
"Grrrrrrr, stop it!" I said irriated.
"Hey! What are you two rascals doing out there?" Said one of the palace guards.
"You have to make your way back to the palace immediately for your training!" The guard yelled out to us.
"I guess we should get going then....Last one's there has to give a fourth of their portion of food to the winner." He said while galloping away.
"Hey! No fair you can't just have a head start like that! I said while hurrying to get onto my horse, to make my way towards Ren. He was pretty fast. Luckily he was a few feet ahead of me.
The way his hair flowed in the air was like how blankets cascade over a bed when you slowly lift it.
"Come on Yurri, you got to be much faster to keep up!" He said while glancing back at me.
"You better stop looking at me or you'll end up falling off of your horse!" I tease back.
Soon we arrived at Sillia's palace village.
"I won." Ren said happily.
"I will kill you if you touch my food." I said in a deep dark scary voice.
This only made him erupt in a million more laughs. "Yurri your killing me." He said with tears in his eyes.
"Come here, let me help you down." He came over to my side and reached out his hands towards me.
"No I got it" I said while trying to get off of the horse.
"Yurri why are you being so difficult, just let me help you."
"I said I-woah woah!" I suddenly lost my grip on the horse and was about to make my way to the ground until I felt someone supporting me.
As I slowly opened my eyes I saw that I was in the arms of Ren, bridal style. Our faces were so close we could both hear the sound of each other breaths.
"S-see, if you weren't so stubborn this could have gone smoothly." He said as a light shade of red began to creep onto his cheeks, where he was blushing.
"S-sorry" I said while quickly getting out of his embrace. I could tell my face was as red as his.
"Well lets be off then." He said while quickly walking away.
"Okay, wait slow down you know I have short legs." I said while following him.
