As I woke up, I glanced around my room, the sun shining in through the tall windows. As I dragged myself out from the bed, I pushed my long black hair from my face, having full view of my room. I walk into the bathroom, brushing my teeth and putting my hair into a plain style. I walk into the closet, pulling out a blue and white dress. As I step out, the maids and butlers step in.
"Ah! Good Morning, Stacy!" Alexander says.
I nod in his direction, he's always been my favourite butler. When I look at the other butlers, their eyes are all dull and plain, like theirs no life in them, but Alex, he's different. When I look at him, he always looks back at me, always helping me out and hanging out with me during his breaks. He reminds me of my brother... I should really try and sneak a call to him.
As I walk down the halls to the kitchen, I glance at one of the laminated papers hanging on the wall. The one being my adoption form. I was adopted at the age of four. I can still remember how the reporters and cameras swarmed us. As I walk, I can't stop thinking about my brother. I'm still trying to figure out why he was sent to boarding school. I still remember the day, 3 years ago when he was sent...
"And so, when the princess got to the party... Leo had began to turn the page."Wait! I want to turn It!" I said, as I grabbed his hand from turning It. He chuckled, allowing me to turn the page. As I did, my eyes widened, beaming with excitement as the story ended.
As the page turned, the last page was revealed to be torn. I pouted, turning to my big brother. "Aww! Now we won't know what happened!" I said, putting my hands together.
Leo stood up and paced around the room. "Well... What do you think happened?" He asked, bending down.
I put my hands on my chin. "I think.. that the princess got to the party and had lots of fun!" I said, bouncing up and down.
"Well, then, I'd say that's a pretty good ending!" He said, as he picked me up and twirled me around in his arms.
As I giggled and laughed, all of a sudden, the door to my room swung open, a suitcase dropped on the ground. In front of It, both my mother and father in front of the door.
"C'mon, let's go!" Father shouted. My brother looked at me and gave me a hug. I looked at him. "Leo?" I said. he started to walk away from. "Leo!" I called. As he closed the door behind him, I started crying, Alexander coming and picking me up.
"Leo!?"
As I thought about this, I eventually reached the kitchen, where breakfast had already been prepared. I grabbed the plate and sat at the breakfast bar. Two golden pancakes, with toast and fruit. As I ate, my mother and father stepped in, standing in front of me.
"Morning, Mother. Morning, Father." I said, in an emotionless tone.
"It's GOOD Morning, Stacy. Try to remember that" My father said, as he walked out. I glared at him. "Can you at least try to be nice to me?!" I yelled, sarcastically.
My father turned back around and slapped me. "No." He said, as I fell off the chair and held my face. I looked at my mother, as she smirked at me. God, I hate the both. I wish someone would actually believe me, but no. Because rich parents are too 'kind' and 'sincere' to be child abusers. As I got up, I grabbed my breakfast and ran down the hall, going into my bedroom and locking the door behind me.
I put the plate on my desk and bent down against the wall, trembling. I hated It here. I wish It wasn't a Saturday today, as six hours without them is a dream come true. As I wiped my face and stepped out of the room, I heard our doorbell ring.
I walked down the grand staircase and opened the door. Standing in front of me was a lady. She looked like a young adult, with big, thick -rimmed glasses. She wore a white pantsuit and her hair was wrapped in a bun. She looked down at me, smiling.
"Why, hello there! You must be Stacy!" She said. I stared her for a minute, before calling my parents. "Mom! Dad! There's some lady at the door!" They both came walking up to me and looked at the lady. "Hello! I bet your the person the agency sent!" My father said, reaching out his hand. The lady gladly took It. "Actually, I'm the social worker" She said. As she said that, my father slammed the door in her face. "Umm.. One moment please! This place is a mess!" He said. He fixed his hair and bent down, his hot breath entering my ear.
"Listen. Your going to act perfect and your going to act happy. Got it?" He asked. I stood there, looking at him. "Well!?" He yelled. "Yes." I replied. He smirked. He opened the door again and welcomed the lady in. We all sat down in the living room and they discussed for a long time, before she looked at me.
"Umm.. If you don't mind me asking...Could I have some alone time with Stacy?" She asked, facing my parents. My father gulped, sweating nervously. "Why, of course!" He replied. My father looked at my mother, who eyed him nervously. They both got up, leaving the room, my father glared at me. I gulped nervously. As they closed the door behind them, the lady came and sat beside me.
I looked at her nervously, her noticing this. She took my hands in her hands and held them.
"This is a safe space. No one is watching." She replied. I looked around nervously before nodding my head. "So, Is there anything you like to do for fun?" She asked.
My eyes trailed down, before looking over at my bookshelf. "Do you see that empty bookshelf?" I pointed too. She nodded. "There used to be all kinds of stories there." I said. She walked over to the bookshelf. "What happened?" She asked. "My parents said that the fairy tales were filling my head up with nonsense. So, they threw them all out." I said. She looked at me sadly. As she cupped my face, she saw the red mark from when my father slapped me.
"Sweetie, where'd this come from?" She asked, looking me straight in the eye. I gulped, my eyes trailing. "Well...Um.." I started, before she held my face more tightly. "Stacy. I'm not going to ask you again. Where. Did. It. Come From?" She asked, sternly. I looked around, before whispering in her ear. When I finished, she looked at me and smiled. I smiled back. She called my parents back into the room.
"Well, Mr. And Mrs. Everwind. It appears that from what Stacy has told me, you two have been suspected of Child Abuse." She said, while gathering her stuff.
"Because of this, I'll be having the state provide us with a trial at the end of the month. If you are found guilty, Stacy or any of her older siblings will be given full control over your money and this estate to ensure they can provide for themselves." She looked at me.
"Also, to prevent any other abuse, Stacy will now be with security guards at all times. She will also be provided with an emergency number, that will inform the police, our services and me.
As she walked out, she bent down to me and handed me what looked like to be a walkie-talkie. "If anything happens, just call me and I'll come get you." She said, smiling. I nodded and she walked out.
As my father closed the door behind her, he turned to face me. "You are in a whole HEAP of trouble!" He said, grabbing me by the collar and dragging me to my room, locking the door behind me. "And your not getting any lunch or dinner!" He yelled. I slid my back against the door, putting my head in my hands. This was going to be the hardest month of my life.
As Stacy cried, she was unaware of the person eyeing her through one of her bedroom windows.
"Your perfect for some fun..."
