The next day I approached the council about Lady Friar, my father's cousin and my aunt.

The man who stood at the head of the council and executed every order was standing before me in the courtroom. He bowed and made his presence known, "Your Majesty, how can we assist you?"

I nodded at him and toyed with my red dress. Maia stood by the door, watching me from afar, "How do I order the execution of Lady Friar?" I asked staring directly into his brown eyes.

"Lady Friar?" He asked perplexed.

"Did I stutter?"

The man I had come to know as Joseph Enrique bowed apologetically, "My apologies ma'am." He straightened his back and walked to his front seat on the council. Pulling out several pieces of paper, he looked up at me, "What crime is she accused of?"

"High treason. She is disloyal and ordered for my demise." I replied taking a step closer to the council. Each of the men sitting up there stared down at me in confusion.

"And do you have any proof of this, ma'am?" One of the men on the left asked.

I nodded, "Last night, an attempt was made on my life."

"My Queen!" A blonde man gasped, "Are you safe?"

I smiled at him, "I am, thank you Marcus."

The lead councilman -Joseph- wrote down on his parchment, "And how do you know that it was Lady Friar that ordered this?"

"The men and woman that tried to murder me said that she requested it from her own mouth. She told them that my body guard was dangerous, so they should take caution by climbing through my window in the dead of night." I answered truthfully.

"And you weren't in your room, correct?" I nodded, and then he spoke again, "Where were you then?"

"Does it matter? I am the queen, I shouldn't have to explain to you were I was." My expression was still and neutral, but I could help hide the blush rushing to my cheeks.

"Apologies ma'am." He bowed his head and returned to writing, "I shall make sure she is notified soon that you wish she is punished."

I nodded and turned back around. Once I reached the courtroom archway, I motioned for Maia to follow, "Come on. I don't want to be here right now."

She hummed in agreement and followed closely behind me as I walked outside, "Of course, Your Majesty."

That day was the worst one I ever had. I felt as though Maia didn't want anything to do with me. She was quiet for most of the day -as was her job to be my bodyguard- but that didn't stop me from feeling somewhat anxious in her presence. Honestly, that whole scenario where I got rejected just dampened my mood for the entire week. I had thought sleeping would allow me to forget the semi-embarrassment I felt, but apparently it didn't.

Simply looking at Maia made my heart clench, think how I felt whenever I thought about the events of last night. It was torture, and I was still curious as to how I felt when kissing her. The whole dynamic of labelling myself as a homosexual -in my opinion- will only be answered when I kiss her. At least, that's how I felt.

I walked out to the entrance of the secret garden and found two guard standing post at the front. It was something I had never seen before, so it made it a whole lot stranger. The fact that they were wearing a different uniform to Blackwood also struck my curiosity.

The two guards bowed respectfully as I approached them, "Your Majesty." The one with blonde hair spoke in a rough voice, almost as if he had been yelling for the entirety of his life, "There is company inside waiting for your presence."
