Chapter 2

"Hey Carson!" Anna yelled. He had bright red hair and freckles scattering his cheeks. Short and clumsy as he headed his way towards us. I was sitting down and putting on my skates when he sat next to me. 

"Alice this is Carson" I smiled at him and continued to lace my skates. 

"Alice he looks really familiar" I looked the way she was pointing, the rink. He was skating alone at a decent speed. Faster than me of course, it's been awhile and I can barely hold my balance at times.

"The one in the dinsoaur jacket?" I asked. 

"Yeah I know him from somewhere. Carson go ask his name!" Anna ordered.

Carson went and asked and surprisingly Carson went up to him and started talking to him only for a brief second. The look on the guys face was confused and continued skating.

"His name is Owen"

"Of course Owen!" She said in excitment.

"You know him?" Carson asked.

"He's one of Victor's best friends!" 

I stood up and skated towards the rink. Being alone felt great right now. 

"Alice!" Anna yells my name from across the rink. I try to ignore her since I noticed a small crowd of people around her. Meeting new people doesn't sound exciting at the moment. As I made my way to the other side she pulls me to the wall. 

"I would love for you to sing again" She swoons. I looked at her confused. 

"I don't..." 

"Not you silly" I look up from Anna to see him standing right in front of me.

"Hello" He smiled a crooked smile. Dinasour jacket guy as I remember him. 

"Uh Hi" I said as calmly as I could. I was never attracted to guys wearing tighter jeans than I was. But now I apparently was really attracted to this one in particular. 

"Sing!" Anna begs. He smiles down at her and starts singing Because of you by Kelly Clarkson. 

I look at him strangely. 

"I know, I know" He starts "I sound like a female vocalist" I was dumbfounded. 

"This is..." Anna began "Is that a tattoo!?" As he was taking off his jacket she noticed the tattoo right away.

"Yeah" He said.

"What's the meaning behind it?" She asked while tracing it. The tattoo was of an upside down tree, and a seed in the center. Looked as though it wasn't quite finished. 

"Well" he lifted his right sleeve to show the whole tattoo "This means a lot to me. I have a daughter" 

"This is an upside down tree, roots exposed. My life was turned upside down because of her. I was told I was never to have a kid as long as I could remember. The blood drip on the root means family and the seed in the center is her with her initials inside." Anna gives him googly eyes. For some reason this is her reaction for every guy she comes across too. I nudge her. 

I whisper in her ear " You have a boyfriend remember" Even though he shouldn't be dating her. He is ninteen years old and was in my graduating class. Victor wasn't all that great from what I remembered.

"As I should say the same for you" She said loudly "Oh Alice you have the best boyfriend in the whole world" She smiles "Who happens to be my best friend also!" I rolled my eyes. Ignored what she said to avoid the situation.

He turned and faced a few others. A petite girl in quads was skaing around him. Bright pink hair, snake bites, and matching tutus with Anna. Of course they had to know eachother. Acted almost the same, minus all the energy Anna tends to have.  

"I'm Ashlyn you must be Anna's friend Alice right?" She asked. She hit right below my shoulders. Even shorter than Anna. I tended to be taller than all the girls I met or became friends with. Being about 5'10 had its perks. Most of the time anyways. 

"Yeah its nice to meet you" I replied.

"Come and skate" She began skating towards the rink and I followed. She was faster than I could keep up with. I didn't understand how those short legs could keep going that fast. She turns around skating backwards. "I was in roller derby for a few years if your wondering" She laughed.

"That explains pretty much all of it" 

"Oh watch it" Someone grabbed my elbow.

"I tend to fall everytime I'm here" I muttered, trying to keep my balance. 

"Your doing fine from the looks of it" He smiled at me and skated away. I didn't relize who it was until he skated away, Owen. 

This will  the last song for the evening.
