Ruby's POV

How many times have I put that look on her face? Sapphire has always been hurting, because I keep lying about forgetting the confession on Mirage Island. Every time she asks me about it, I always say that I don't remember even though that's a lie. How many times do I need to say that until I can find the courage to tell the truth? Even if I do find the courage, she probably won't forgive me for all the other times I lied to her. But, the sooner, the better. Even now would be fine. I decided to run after her.

"Sapphire wait!" I say as I catch her wrist.

"Ruby go away. I don't need a liar ta keep following me around." I really need to tell the truth.

"Sapphire I'm sorry that I've been lying all this time but even if you don't believe me anymore, I still have to tell you the truth."

"Waddya mean?"

"I mean that I do remember what you said to me on Mirage Island and... what I said back." I see her eyes widen in shock.

Sapphire POV

"I mean that I do remember what you said to me on Mirage Island and... what I said back." My eyes widen. So he does remember. My face falls as I mumble,

"Then why? Why did ya keep lying about the confession?" I could feel myself crying now. After all, I didn't understand. Why did he lie?

"Because so many people died during the fight between Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza. Steven died, my dad died, Courtney died, and they weren't the only ones." My heart felt pierced when he mentioned Courtney.

"Then they were revived," he continued "So many things changed. I wanted something to stay the same so-"

"So you chose our relationship?" I interrupted. I hope this wasn't true but all the facts pointed to it being true.

"Well... yes." he replied

"Does that mean I'm not important? Does that mean you really don't care?!" I was raising my voice now. I felt angry, sad, confused, and so much more. I don't know what to do now."

"Sapphire. I'm sorry." Ruby walked forward and embraced me. 

"I may have lied before but I will tell you the truth now. I like you too Sapphire. I always have, since we first met. I thought I would never see you again after the Salamence incident but I'm really, really happy that I did. I don't want you to be hurt anymore because of me. Can you forgive me Sapphire?" I hesitated. I couldn't answer him right away, not after the many times he unintentionally hurt me. But still...

"Okay. But ya still have ta pay because ya lied ta me for this long."

"Alright, alright. How about we go to Kanto and Johto to see our seniors, then go somewhere fun." Ruby suggested

"That'll do. You're paying for everything got that?"

"Yes, I know."

"Great, then see ya tomorrow!" I wave goodbye as I run home, smiling. I now know he remembers and I don't have to worry about it anymore.
