Chapter 2

Gene walked down the halls, surprisingly he didn't get pushed today, he was secretly glad saying that he had a good beating the day before. He then heard footsteps behind him then Rose walked next to him "Good morning!" She said smiling.
Gene rolls his eyes, "Why do you like being around me so much?...you've been following me the last week...." Rose shrugged.
"You don't gossip, that's all I hear all day long. Your quiet and I like it." Gene smiled a bit but wiped it away. Rose has been secretly expecting Gene, she has noticed that Gene has been coming to school with more and more bruises.

She gets angry at the teachers for not pulling him aside and asking where they came from, she has been thinking about telling her parents but she didn't want Gene to get mad at her.
"Gene, where did those bruises really come from?" She asks. Gene was hesitant but he pulled her to the said, he looked at her with a serious face.
"Fine I'll tell you since you've been asking me...but tell anybody and I'll hunt you down..." Rose nodded "Promise!" Gene sighs.
"My foster parents are abusing me...and they aren't the only ones....I've had foster parents like that in the past as well...." Rose's eyes widen. She knew that something was up but not  something that bad! Her ears and tail went down. "O-Oh....I'm sorry...." she whispers.

Gene shakes his head "It's not your fault...but these parents are the worst so far.....but please...don't tell anyone...." he looked at her with sorrow in his eyes. She nods again when the bell rang.

Rose reaches her house, she is shaken from what Gene told her. She didn't want Gene to be living that way, no child should be....but at the same time she made a promise....when she sat for dinner her parents had noticed something was off.
"Is everyone okay dear? Did something happen at school?" Her mother asks, Rose looks up. Should she tell them?....
"W-Well you know Gene?...the one I talked about before?...." she said nervously. Both her parents nodded, Rose took a deep breath.
"W-Well.....he's been coming to school with bruises....I thought it was because of bulling but recently he told me that it was his parents..."

Her heart was beating fast, Rose's mother got up and patted her back "Thank you for telling us dear..." Rose has tears in her eyes. "He told me not to tell anyone but I didn't want to be hurting anymore..." Rose's dad got up and walked to the phone and called someone.
"Rose you should go upstairs, we'll talk about this later." Her mother offered. Rose nods and runs upstairs.

"You can't do nothing right! No wonder your parents left you!" His "mother" yelled. Gene stayed quiet, then his "dad" slapped him. Gene fell on the floor then the both of them started beating on him. Then there was lights out side....police lights. His "parents" looked at each other with a worried face then someone banged on the door.
"It's the police open up!" Someone yelled out side. His "mother went and opened the door to only be tackled by one police, then the other came and grabbed his "dad" Genes eyes were wide the rest was a blur....
