Her lips crashed against the shorter dragonling's. The dragonling's freckle-like scales blinkered under the three full moons. It's emerald eyes gazed up at her, full of wonder and confusion. "Y-you..." It couldn't comprehend what had just happened. "I-er..sorry" the human spoke, looking away. "I-It's o-okay Natalie " it spoke. Natalie brought her gaze back down to the older half-blood. "But it's not Cereus" Natalie choked, looking into the shimmering emerald pools that showed the good in the small dragonling. Cereus drew back away from the girl, its eyes now rippling with huge waves of emotion. "I-It's cause I'm not human...isn't it" its voice cracked, showing they were about to cry. "It's not that Cereus " Natalie said, attempting to comfort them. "N-no! Leave me be! Y-ou're just like the rest! I'm just as much human as everyone else, and I've got twice the heart. " Cereus snapped, their cheeks wet with tears. " I shouldn't have risked my life to save your...your" their fangs bared. " I shouldn't have saved your dumb ass from the tribe of sharp stones. But no! I sensed you were different." They broke down with a wail of grief " boy was i-I wrong" Cereus collapsed to the dirt clutching their chest.
Cereus awoke in a hospital bed. They looked around, feeling drowsy. Their emerald eyes focused and noticed a nurse and a doctor standing at the edge of the bed. "What the hell do you guys want" they groaned, rubbing their horns. "Nothing miss/mister Cereus" the nurse spoke, then whispered something to the doctor. "No need for that kind of formality. Just call me Your new god" they chuckled and ripped out the IVs from their arm. It's emerald eyes blazed furiously. They stood to their feet and smoke bellowed from it's nostrils. Green flares erupted from mouth, catching the bed ablaze. Green flames spread through the hospital as Cereus felt the flames burn away the thin human clothes. Scales started growing where human skinned burned away. Spikes trailed down their back and down their midnight tail. They roared as their horns grew in length, showing their new dragon form.Natalie watched the building crush to the ground. Her hazel eyes reflected the oddly green blaze. In the middle of the wreck she saw a all to familiar character. "Cereus! " She cried out, attempting to wake the dragonling from her chaotic blindfold. Cereus's haunting eyes glared at the still taller human. They let out a bone chilling shriek as they perched on ashen stone. The blaze parted, creating a path from where Natalie was standing to a small amount in front of Cereus. Natalie took note and ran towards her past friend. Cereus shifted, unease filling her from her talons to her wave shaped horns. Natalie opened her arms to attempt to comfort them, but no progress was made as she felt their needle sharp fangs sink into her forearm. Natalie's eyes fluttered as she fell to the dirt, Cereus's toxin coursing through her veins. "How...could...you" she choked, blacking out.
