forgiveness

Forgiveness is a trait that is romanticized by the modern culture. We are always told to forgive and forget those who wounded us. Betrayed us and pushed us to the ground. Forgiveness is what we stow our faith in when we have hurt someone we claim to hold dear. An idea that we pray for them to exercise.

When asked for forgiveness we are stingy. Greedy with our trust.

But when asking for forgiveness, we expect others to give it to us without hesitation or question. We view it as a right when in all reality. It is a form of socially acceptable masochism. A way of asking to be hurt again.
