It's been four years since IT happened. Since he was trapped in a dimension so much like his own, but nowhere near it. It was a cold, empty, lonely place to be.

It's been four years since he's been having crazy nightmares and 'now memories,' as he called them, about a figure so tall and so vivid. It watched him wherever he went. He could be at the arcade with his 5 best friends and suddenly... the world stops. Suddenly he's standing alone in cold, dark field, face to face with a monster so frightening, with horrible intentions and needs for evil.

He couldn't tell anybody, not even his own mother or brother about what he was seeing. He was scared to be judged. At 16, he should've put his foot down and told somebody, but he didn't. So he silently dealt with it on his own, feeling tortured and alone.

He didn't even tell his closest friend, his crush even, Mike Wheeler, about it. He told Mike everything. Well, almost everything. He still hasn't even gotten the chance to admit his feelings for Mike. Mostly because he was in love with his other best friend, Jane Hopper, who goes by El. Will knew that if he expressed his feelings for Mike, he'd be humiliated.

Jane was special. Not because she was a gorgeous, skinny girl with a father who would do anything for her and a boy who would drop the world to save her, but she was special because she had unbelievable powers. Powers so unbelievably amazing and useful.

She saved him from the upside down by using a giant kiddie pool and gallons of salt used for grounds during winter and a blind fold. Well... she didn't exactly save him, but in other ways she did.

She had telekinesis and even the ability to spy, which is how she found him. She could find you with just a tiny piece of your hair in her palm. She was able to move trains with her mind and was able to kill somebody with one shift of her head.

He envied her. Not only for her amazing abilities, but for the fact that she's had Mike wrapped around her finger for years now. He knew he had no chance, but he found it impossible to move on as well.

But that's off topic.

Some days, when they're all together, he got a weird sensation in the back of his neck, making him grow goosebumps all over his neck and arms. An eery feeling so strong it got his stomach doing flips and he started to breath unsteadily.

People just thought it was an anxiety attack from the PTSD he got from the upside down, as they called it.
But it wasn't. Because this feeling only came around when whispers of the wind blew in his ear. When the world would turn back into the upside down and all he'd see is, what he calls, the shadow monster, or even the mind flayer.
