Bucky Imagine/One Shot

Being popular isn't all it's cracked up to be. Yeah okay, so people know your name and everyone wants to be your friend. So what? None of that matters after High School.

"Hey," Y/N, one of the most popular girls in school, said to her best friend, joining him beside his car.

He looked up at her and smiled. "Hey, Y/N," he replied. Bucky Barnes, aka the school loner.

No one understood why Y/N was friends with Bucky, but that didn't bother her. They have been attached at the hip since before they could walk...and Y/N might have a tiny crush on Bucky. But she'd never known how to tell him. "You ready?"

You nodded and hopped into his car, as he jumped in the driver's side. You both pulled on your seatbelts and off you went. Far away from the torture chamber they call school.

"Fri-yay!!" you said, excitedly, jumping up and down in your seat. "Two days of nothing ahead."

"Uh, we still have a lot of homework to do," said Bucky, looking at you quickly out of the corner of his eye. You shrugged your shoulders.

"The teachers can suck my -"

"And I'm going to stop you right there," laughed Bucky. You smiled.

"Come on, since when do I do my homework?" you asked. "Since when do you do your homework?"

"True," said Bucky. "Two days of nothing it is."

The car pulled up outside your house and the two of you went inside. Your parents were away for the weekend in Philadelphia, so it was just you and your brother, Tony. Tony and Bucky had never really seen eye to eye, but they tolerated eachother for your sake.

"Hey bro," you said, spotting Tony in the living room, in the process of building a baking soda volcano.

"Hello," he replied, not looking up from his work. "If you and that long haired friend of yours are going up to your room, keep the door open ajar. You know the rules and you can't break them just because mum and dad aren't home."

You rolled your eyes. "Grow up, Tony."

You ran up the stairs, followed closely by Bucky, and led the way to your room, making a statement of closing the door loudly behind him.

Bucky chuckled. "Oh, breaking the rules now, are we?"

"As if that's new," you laughed. "Anyway, wanna watch a film? Order some food? Both?" You sat on your bed and looked up at Bucky.

"Both," he said, pulling his phone from his pocket and dialing the number for pizza. Yes, we both know that number off by heart.

You smiled as you watched Bucky on the phone. The small crease between his eyebrows as he tried to decide on a pizza topping. The way the side of his shirt rode up ever so slightly as his hand was held at his ear, revealing a bit of skin. The way he bit his lip as he focused, as he did so often.

You got so lost in your thoughts that you didn't realise Bucky had hung up the phone and was now stood, smirking at you.

"See something you like?" he asked, his smirk only growing when a blush covered your cheeks.

You shook your head to make yourself focus again. "No, as if. Shut up."

Bucky laughed. "You pick the film."

You got up and made your way over to your DVD cabinet as Bucky flopped onto your bed.

You picked out a film you knew Bucky would hate, being the most amazing best friend in the world, and put it into the DVD player, not showing Bucky your choice.

You lied down beside him, nudging him slightly to make him move over. He groaned when the Titanic started to play.

His head snapped to you. You kept your eyes glued to the screen, trying not to smile. "Seriously?" he asked.

You turned to look at him and gave him the most innocent look you could. "What?" you asked, sweetly.

He shook his head at you. "Unbelievable. You're unbelievable."

You couldn't help but laugh as you snuggled into his side and turned your attention back to the film.

About halfway through the film you felt Bucky watching you. At first you tried to ignore it, but he didn't look away.

You turned to face him, finding that your faces were now very close.

"What?" you asked, giving him a small smile.

"Nothing," replied Bucky, his eyes taking in every detail of your face. "You're just so beautiful."

You were taken aback, Bucky also obviously realised what he said as he tensed up and became slightly awkward.

"Thank you?" you said, as more of a question, the smile not leaving your face. Bucky gave you an awkward half smile and turned back to the film, watching it as if his life depended on it.

As you watched Bucky, you realised just how much you liked this boy sitting beside you. Who cares what those kids at school think? Popular and loser? So what? Also, you couldn't keep it in anymore. If you just say it, then whatever the outcome, you won't live wondering if he feels the same. Either way, you'd know.

You took a deep breath.

"I love you," you whispered. Bucky clearly heard as his head shot round to look at you.

"What?" he said, his eyes wide, turning his body so that he could face you easier.

"I said; I love you," you repeated, a little louder this time. "I have done for a while and I guess I just couldn't hide it anymore. I understand if you don't feel the same but -"

Bucky cut you off by smashing his lips against yours. You quickly melted into the kiss, despite how surprised you were.

He pulled away first, a goofy smile on his face. "You have no idea how long I've been wanting to hear that. I love you too."

You smiled again, brighter than ever before, and leaned back in for another kiss.
