Chapter 2

"I like her!" he yelled, throwing his jacket aside. Kevin looked up to see Brandon scrunching his face up in a very unappealing way.

"Fix your face first." he said, looking back to the math problem he was working on. Brandon hit the side of his arm before plopping down onto the seat next to him. He buried his face in his hands.

"What should I do?" He turned to Kevin and smacked his pencil out of his hand.

"Dude!" he shouted. He hit Brandon over the head with his Mathcounts folder. [Mrs. Brandt sighed and left the two guys to their antics. Vincent and Adelina were fighting over his side part. She grabbed her scissors and held Vincent's neck firmly as she opened the scissor blades. He shrieked.]

"If you like her so much, then just ask her out!" he cried. The classroom suddenly became quiet the moment Brandon shot back his answer.

"I can't go after a girl who already has a boyfriend!"

Adelina's eyes lit up as she let go of the scissors that she'd been holding dangerously close to Vincent's side part.

"Is this a new ship?!" she squealed. And although she was still terrified of Brandon because of the Brincent accident, she bounced over to his chair and looked him in the eyes.

"Is it Cissy?"

Brandon jerked his hand away.

"No! I'm telling you, we're just friends! I like-"

He noticed the way that Adelina slightly tilted her head, as if listening for an answer, and stopped himself. He coughed.

"It's not your business, Adelina."

Frowning, she sullenly walked away. [Vincent was protectively holding his side part.]

"Anyways, move along, seventh and sixth graders. Continue working on whatever trivial question you were working on." Brandon said, moving his hands in a shoo-shoo motion. Reluctantly, the younger students turned back to their work, and Brandon continued to speak to Kevin.

"I heard from Ethan that Peter and Phoebe already confessed to each other! That they've been a thing for months."

Kevin sighed and smacked Brandon's face.

"Idiot! They just confessed! No one said anything about dating!"

Brandon looked at him with a confused, puppy-like face.

"Huh?"

Kevin shook his head and picked up his pencil.

"What did I say, idiot?"

Brandon smiled widely.
