Chapter 6

Phoebe marched down the hallway with a purpose.

"Brandon!" she yelled. Brandon turned around, shocked. Cissy stood beside him, kneeling next to her locker.

"Phoebe?" he asked, his voice going up an octave at the end. He ruffled the back of his head, making his cowlick stand up.

"I heard that you liked me?" she said. [Vincent and Adelina are grappling over his side part next to the lockers in the eighth grade hall. Adelina has her scissors out again, and Vincent is squealing, terrified.] Brandon shook his head immediately.

"Are you crazy?"

Phoebe sighed in relief.

"Okay, just checking. Adelina told me that you liked me so..."

[Adelina freezes as she hears her name, and Vincent takes the opportunity to slither away...]

"ADELINA %&@*%!(%&!~*%&@#!!!" Brandon yelled.

Adelina whimpered, and ran after Vincent, screaming.

"COME BACK HERE!"

Phoebe looked at the odd trio as they ran down the hall, then turned back to Cissy, who shrugged. Phoebe shrugged back, awkwardly smiling.

Brandon caught up to Adelina outside. [Vincent successfully evades Adelina's scissors!]

"Adelina."

She brightly smiled, tilting her head.

"Yes, Brandon? How can I help you on this absolutely wonderful, lovely day with such nice weather? Nobody could ever think of ruining a person's life on this warm afternoon, you know."

His eyebrow twitched. He slammed his hand right next to Adelina's face and traps her. He leans in a whispers,"You know what Phoebe said to me?" [Adelina starts to sweat, and her throat becomes dry.]

"Uh, how would my beautiful friend be related to the um, forecast today? She surely has no part in this peaceful conversation outside in the emerald grass."

Brandon glared at her.

"She said 'Do you like me?' She said that she heard it from you!"

[Adelina turns to stone, and her cheery facade cracks.]

"Uh...I have to go! Shunshin no jutsu!"

[Adelina disappears as she hightails it out of the scene at an amazing speed.]
