I gently cradle the egg in my hands and wait for it to hatch. It takes about another minute for the creature inside too completely break free. I'm completely shocked by what climbs out of the egg and into the palm of my hand. The small snake in my palm looks up at me. The small snake had a dizzying purple/pink/red patterned scales.

-Hello speaker, I am Kali. I believe I am your familiar seeing as I was to hatch when I felt my master's presence.-
-Well, it must not be me I've had your egg for a few weeks-
-you weren't ready then, now you are-
-Whatever you say, little guy-
What do you think Jaden, Jager, Eridan?
I feel the bond so I say yes
*same*
~He is a snake and that is what our familiar is so I say yes~
-Well they all say yes so welcome to the freak train. What type of snake are you?-
-I'm a basilisk but I am keeping one lid down to not kill you, is this ok?-
-Sure I don't know much about your species but you can teach me. I suggest you hide an get comfortable we are about to get company.-
I look up an see the goblin that helped me lead a tall man with a crooked nose and shoulder-length inky black hair straight to me. I feel Kali slither up my arm under my shirt and coil loosely around my shoulders. I shut and latch the trunk as the two stop in front of me.
"Thank you for all your assistance" I say bowing my head to the goblin. He bows his head back and goes back to his work. In one swift motion I stand up and look up at the man in front of me. He looks at me warily and says, " Is that really you -son-?" I smirk back at him. "-It's me da-" His onyx eyes widen just the slightest bit before engulfing me in a tight hug that I gladly reciprocate. He holds me for a minute before backing up slightly. "You look just like your father." He gives me a small smile and I grin back. "So I heard you still need a wand." "yeah it's a long story but I couldn't find the wand maker." "Long story?" "yeah I'll tell you and dad when we get home. For two reasons, one I don't want to tell it twice, two I don't want to be here when you inevitably go on a hunt." He gives me a calculating look then takes out his wand shrinking my trunk. He picks it up and hands it to me so I can pocket it. Once that is done he leads me out of the bank and down a side street called knockturn alley. When he stops it is in front of a dusty old store. He turns to face me and makes eye contact. I internally smirk. "Legitimacy won't work on me you know. If you want to know something just ask." He looks slightly taken aback before he turned and entered the store motioning for me too follow. I do grinning like a fool internally and with a straight face mask on. Inside the shop is silent. The walls are covered in different woods and jars of things, presumably wand cores. A young man in his early twenties stands behind the counter. Da is off looking at wand holders. I walk up to the counter with an air of grace. The man looks down at me and smiles. "You need a wand?" I scoff in my mind but remain indifferent outside. "Yes." "Alright I want you to walk along the shelves of wood and feel for a pull. When you do grab the wood and put it on the counter then do the same with the cores." I nod my agreement and walk to the wall of wood. I drop all ties except those on my physical features. As soon as my magic was released a block of wood came flying at me. Thanks to years of living with the Dursleys I was able to catch it before it hit me. I place the dark wood block on the counter as I gather the ties for my magic. "Ah Acacia, this is a very temperamental but loyal wood. Now I believe you have another wood I suggest you do what you did last time from here." I release the ties but slower this time. Another block of wood comes flying at me. I catch it and place it next to the Acacia wood. This one is black as night and without a single not. "An Ebony, very interesting, now for the cores." I move towards the core side of the shop with my ties still released. This time instead of stuff flying to me I feel a pull to two different items on the shelf. The first one is a vile of black liquid, the next is a long tube with a single black feather. I take the items to the counter and pull in my magic while leaving out the other ties simply for fun. "Very interesting, this one," he holds up the vile, "is Basilisk venom, and this," he holds up the tube, "is a dark veela feather."
-I wonder why you have those cores.-
-I agree Kali-
I hiss back to her forgetting that I'm not alone.
Did they hear me?
Yes
Great
-Kali time to come out and make sure one lid is down, I want to have at least some time with my da-
I hiss too Kali making sure no one else can hear me. She unwinds from my neck and comes spiraling down coiling back up in my outstretched hand. Da is studying her probably trying to find out what breed she is. The wandmaker is looking at me shocked. "She's my familiar now can we get back to the wand?" The wandmaker nods hesitantly as Kali goes back to my neck. Da still has a calculating look. "The wand will be ready in an hour and it will be seven galleons." I nod and take out the card the goblins gave me. "Thank you for your help" I hand him the card so he can take out the money for the wand. He hands it back then heads to the workshop with the materials in hand. I turn towards da. "Come on I'm sure there are plenty of things to do for an hour here." I grab his arm and pull him out of the shop and back to Diagon Alley. I look around and see the Ice cream shop. I look up at my da hesitantly. "Um, da can I, um maybe, I don't know, try some Ice cream?" This brought him out of his calculations. He turned to face me onyx eyes searching for the lie in my statement. When he found none his face hardened into something that resembled determination. He turned back and we briskly walked to the ice cream parlor. We get into line for the ice cream as I survey my surroundings. A group of three kids about my age sit at one end of the small store catch my eye. Breathing in deep and catch the faint smell of Draco.
*They've been around mate*
They're probably his friends
*we should tell them to back off*
How about we just go talk to him?
*Ugg fine*
"Hey, da can I go talk to them?" I ask pointing to the group. He looks at them then nods. I cautiously walk up to the table housing the group that smell like Draco. Their idle chatter comes to a stop once they saw me. The girl looked me over for a second seeming to be assessing me before coming to some conclusion as she stands.
~I have a bad feeling~
Me too
The girl came closer ignoring the protests of the two boys at the table. She looked me up and down again when she was about a foot in front of me. She was way too close for my liking but fear froze me. A creepy smirk covers her face and sends a shiver of fear down my spine. She moves closer and quickly reaches out to me. Her sudden movements shatter my reality as I'm thrown into remembering a time I got too close too Aunt Petunia during breakfast. She said I had tried to touch her and I got locked in my cupboard for a week for it, after being beaten for about two hours. The memory comes down crashing resulting in me on the floor of the little ice cream shop. Mind still in the memory of danger I curled up on the floor trying as hard as I could too look non threatening. I feel a pair of arms close around me locking me in. My breathing worsens as I remember all the painful hours after a beating locked in the cramped cupboard, with only a small voice as comfort. I attempt to take a deep breath but that just gets rid of what little air I had. A distant voice is speaking to me but I can't make out what it's saying. 'I'm going to die.' I think as my limited vision is giving way to the ever consuming darkness. Something is pressed to my mouth just before I succumb to the comfort of darkness. Barely making out the words I swallow the, something, that was slowly poured in my mouth. The effect was instant. An unnatural amount of calm washed over me like a soothing ocean. My previously ragged breathing calmed and my thought brought back to the current situation. After a few moments of relishing in the ability to breath. With my breathing now stabilized I take a look around and try and figure out what happened. The two boys from the table are on the ground in front of me but a good two or three feet away. The girl is standing behind them. All three have almost identical looks of fear and worry, that's a new one, on their faces. The other people in the store are watching but not coming any closer which is a relief. The feeling of being held becomes more prominent. I carefully look above me, I lock eyes with theirs. 'Why him? Anyone in the world, and it was him. Dear Merlin why did I have to freak out and show my freaky ness to him?'
