She saw the back of his head and recognized him immediately. Jerry had a distinct copper blonde color in his hair and with his broad shoulders; it wasn't hard to distinguish him from the rest of the customers. Trey didn't appreciate the fact that Brie paced herself a little faster the moment she saw Jerry. He tugged her hand a little tighter to slow her down which caused her to turn around and give him a stern look.
What he really wanted to do was take her by the waist and drag her back home. She was extremely eager in the morning as they were on their way to the restaurant. However, he didn't want to push her any further. She had already agreed to allow him to join them this morning.
"Jerry!"
When Jerry stood up from his chair and turned around, his eyes gleamed at seeing Brie, but his stature changed when he saw Trey. He wasn't expecting him there.
"Brie. Trey, I didn't realize you were joining us too?"
They both shared a friendly handshake. They were both firm in their hold. Jerry finally released his hand from Trey's grasp.
"Well, I'm learning to surprise people like how my wife surprises people."
Trey felt Brie pinch his thigh. A warning in regards to his behavior at the moment, he presumed.
The conversation didn't start until after they ordered from the menu. As the waitress left, Jerry was eager to know the reason behind Brie's sudden request to meet.
"So, Brie, there must be an urgent matter that you wanted to meet." Jerry felt uncomfortable talking to Brie with Trey present.
Brie didn't know how else to approach the matter at hand, but the longevity of her silence forced Trey to speak up.
"My wife believes Allison is a potential threat to you."
The silence became eerie. Jerry didn't know how to take the statement from Trey. He stared directly at Brie for clarification. She finally made eye contact with him. She then went on to explain how Allison was manipulative and caused strife in Trey and her relationship. Jerry studied Trey's body language, and Trey didn't seem to be bothered by Brie's confession. Jerry leaned back in his chair and raised his glass cup of water for a sip.
"Brie, if you don't want me to be in contact with Allison, then I won't. You don't need to explain yourself to me, ever."
She felt a sense of relief at his response. It was easier than she had anticipated. Jerry had always been easy to convince.
After finishing their breakfast, Jerry had to return to work.
"Brie, you could have called or text me this message, though it's always good to see you."
She blushed at his comment, "I, uh, wanted to explain in person. It was important for me." She gave him a hug and released him quickly.
As Trey and Brie returned back to her apartment, Brie could feel the tension in Trey's hold around her waist during their walk. She tried to keep her pace, and if she took a misstep, he slightly lifted her up to bring her back to speed.
His silence spoke volumes, and she wanted to confront him about what he was thinking.
"Trey, please speak to me."
He went into the kitchen and fixed himself a cup of coffee. All the while, Brie stood by the island waiting for him to respond.
"Trey?"
He took in a deep breath and didn't feel like turning this into an argument.
"You do realize what Jerry is doing?"
