"I want you to teach me how to fight."

Your words shocked him, he almost thought they he was hearing things but after the moment of silence following afterwards and the tone of your voice, you weren't. Matt lowered his drink from his lips and turned to your direction. He didn't respond back instantly, which worried you but you continued to stay still and wait for his response.

"What?" He finally asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"You heard me, Matt," you said as he felt your presence coming closer to him. "I'm pretty sure you did with that super hearing of yours."

He softly sighed and placed his drink on his kitchen counter, and then leaned against the counter with his hands on the edge. Matt closed his eyes for a moment and knew exactly why you made this sudden request. "It's about that incident that happened a few days ago, wasn't?"

"Yeah, and that's why I need to-"

"No."

"H-hey!" You exclaimed. "You didn't give me a chance to explain!"

"You don't need to, [Name]," he said. "You got mugged on the street late at night and now you have the interest in learning how to fight and defend yourself, I get it. But I can't allow it."

Your shoulders shagged down as you stared at him in disbelief. "Hey, I'm not just doing this for myself. If I know how to fight properly, I can also help other people."

He stayed silent as your words got him thinking. He, too, obtains the same desire- to protect the people in Hell's Kitchen from evil lurking around every corner. But that would also risk your life in danger, and he couldn't take the chance. You would have escaped from his life if he didn't make it in time.

"That's why I'm here," he said.

"...Yeah but... what if you're not?"

Matt opened his mouth to respond to her but no words escaped his mouth. His mouth became dry as he lowered his head and extended his right hand out. You stared at him for a second before realizing he was offering to hold your hand. Slowly raising your hand, you placed it right on top of his palm as his fingers instantly curled around yours.

He listened to your breaths as the distance between your two bodies decreased. Eager, worried, anxious and desire. The emotions he read from you made his palm sweat but he kept on holding while bringing up his free hand and placed it on top of yours.

"I will always be there."

"Matt, you don't know that," you whispered to match his hush voice.
"And that what scares me..." he confessed.
Matt felt you bring his hands towards you and he held in his breath as he felt your lips press gently on the back of his hand. "Then teach me," you quietly said, bringing shivers down his back.

-

"Wow," you quirked. "It's pretty dark in here."

Matt dropped his bag on the bench and smiled, "Oh, right. I never use the lights, but the switches should be beside the wall next to the window."

Your soft footsteps echoed against the floor as you made your way to the switch. With a quick flick, the florescent bulbs shined the old training room. You squinted your eyes and blinked a couple of times to adjust to the bright sudden lighting.

"Alright Sensai, where do we start?" You jumped making Matt laugh at your excitement.

"Sensai?" He repeated with a grin on his face causing you to laugh loudly but you shut your mouth immediately after realizing how loud your laughter sounded in an empty training room. His smile was still on his face as he took off his sweater and threw it onto his bag. "Let's start with stance."

"But what about the punching, flipping and nut kicking?" You groaned.

"There will be no nut kicking when I'm here," he warned. "Please."

You laughed and shrugged. "Fine, stance it is."

"Good, now I want you to stand in a position like you're getting ready to fight."

You stood with your legs slightly apart and raised your fists up to your chest. But before you could react, Matt pushed you with a single hand resulting you to take a step back for balance.

"There, that's one mistake people always do," Matt said. "Stance is important because it not only prepares you but it also keeps you on ground. I could have taken you down just now because you were standing with two feet apart. You need to put one foot slightly outward than the other and knees slightly bent," he showed a demonstration. "This will give you better balance."

"Okay, legs apart, one in front of the other and knees bent," you repeated and got into position.

"Hm, okay... as long as I don't have to spread my legs apart for any kinky things."

"Oh... um," he became speechless and rubbed his neck. Your eyes widened at the horrible crude joke you made and cursed to yourself.

"I'm so sorry! Sometimes bad things slip out of my mouth sometimes," you explained. "I guess you can say I've been on the naughty list for a while now." You joked, hopefully easing the awkward atmosphere you've created.

Matt gulped and stood normally from his fighting stance. He seemed like he wanted to say something but hesitated. Your eyebrows rose once he finally opened his mouth. "Teach me."

You remained silent. Wait... was Matt Murdock trying to flirt with you with a non-innocent one-liner? A grin appeared on your face when you noticed how pink his face was shading into.

"Yeah, I'll give you a lesson or two after you give me your lessons." You agreed, a smirk appearing on your lips.

"Oh... um... uh, alright then..." he mumbled, adjusting his neck collar. "Can't wait then. No! Wait, no. I didn't mean it like that, I meant I'm looking forward to it but in a....uh."

"It's okay Murdock, I know what you mean," you laughed. "I'm looking forward to it too."
Matt felt the excitement arouse in his body as his body temperate rose just by thinking about tonight's events. He just couldn't believe how fast it all concluded to, and he could imagine Foggy giving him the dog howl. His face flushed as he thought that maybe agreeing to train you wasn't a bad idea after all. Now the hard thing to do was to concentrate.
