  "Another one? Really?"

Matt looked up at the direction of the exasperated voice, pursed in his lips and slowly looked down at his papers. He heard footsteps coming closer to him and sensed your presence getting closer.

"Yeah," his voice sounded gruff, tired from the lack of sleep.

"Goodness, what happened this time?" You asked.

"...I wasn't careful."

He heard you scoff. Matt was fully aware that you were suspicious of his daily wounds and injuries but he appreciated you didn't bug him about it. The last thing he wanted was to expose himself and put the people he loved in danger. It was too risky.

"As always," you replied, making him chuckle.

He felt your hand on his face, causing him to stop what he was doing. He turned his body towards you and stayed still, embracing the contact almost. His head was turned side by side from your hands as he felt your eyes looking at his cut on his temple stretching to his eyebrow.

The light touch of your thumb brushing over his cut in a soft manner made his stomach feel funny. He heard a long sigh escaping your lips as he gave you a half smile coyly.

"Coming here everyday and seeing new injuries on you makes me want to stay by your side twenty-four seven." You said, hand still on his cheek, caressing.

He hummed at the thought, smiling like a little boy. "When do you want to plan this out, then?"

Your soft laugh made him smile. "Oh, shut it."

A chuckle left his mouth as he leaned into your hand, "I'm sure Foggy wouldn't mind if you offered him that kind of deal."

"I'll make Karen ask him instead," you said, leaning closer to him making your heartbeat sound more loud and clear. He wasn't sure if it was your heart beating fast, or his own.

Matt felt your cheek brush against his as your lips landed gently on his cut. The action was so small yet made him so speechless.
So sweet and so addictive.

"Try not to hurt yourself anymore, Matthew." You said with a voice full of tenderness.

It was a promise he couldn't make, and he knew that. But if it was the only way of protecting the good souls in the city, protecting you, he wouldn't mind getting hurt in the process.

"I'll try," he responded, felt you smile and leave the room. He stared at the direction where you once stood moments ago and smiled to himself.
