Chapter 1:
I stood there in shock. I couldn't help but notice his abs showing through his wet shirt.
When I realized what I had just done, my cheeks burned a fiery red. I just wanted to disappear.
"I-I'm sorry..." I stuttered looking down at my feet.
"It's alright, beautiful. I don't really-" I was already halfway to the restroom, tears streaming down my face.
I'm such an idiot. I hate myself. Why am I even here? I thought, sadly.
At this point I was sobbing in a bathroom stall. "Why do I screw everything up?" I said out loud this time.
"You don't. Everybody makes mistakes." said a familiar voice.
"Ana?" I asked.
"Lexi come on out. We need to talk."
I opened the door, quietly whimpering.
"Lexi what happened out there?" Ana asked me with a concerned look on her face.
"I tried talking to Toby but instead I bumped into him and spilled punch all over him." I answered, continuing to cry.
"Lexi, that's nothing worth crying over. How about you get yourself cleaned up and we'll go get some frozen yogurt?" Ana looked at me with hopeful eyes.
"Okay..." I agreed.
"See you in 5 minutes in the hallway." Ana told me then left the restroom.
I wiped off my mascara covering my face and applied a little more in an attempt to look decent.
"Why did I agree to this stupid reunion in the first place, it's not like anyone likes me or cares about me." I said, looking at myself in the mirror. "I'm worthless." I said softly.
I left the restroom not feeling any better. I also didn't see Ana. I decided to wait and sit on the floor. Ana came out a minute later.
"What were you doing?" I asked.
"Oh just saying good-bye to some of my old friends." She said hesitantly.
Ana was always a bad liar and I could tell she wasn't telling the truth, but I didn't feel like questioning her.
I just wanted the night to be over.
---
The whole car ride there we didn't talk. I just wanted to go home and be by myself, but instead here I was walking into a frozen yogurt place.
As I opened the door, I stopped dead in my tracks. The only man I didn't want to see right now was sitting at one of the tables with a big smile on his face.
I tried to back out the door, but Ana wouldn't have it. She nudged me forward into a seat across from Toby.
"Um, hi." I said to Toby trying to dodge his glance.
"Hi, my name's Toby. Your friend Ana over here invited me to have fro-yo with you guys and I thought why not! I never caught your name though." He was looking straight at me, smiling with his perfectly white teeth.
"Oh I'm Lexi." I answered. I looked up, and we made eye contact. I noticed that he had hazel eyes. I quickly looked down after.
"Wow you have some pretty eyes!" He told me.
"Really? You think so?" I asked smiling a little. No one had ever noticed my amber eyes other than Ana.
"Just like you! Alright how about we get some fro-yo? I'm starving!"
"Sure!" I agreed getting more comfortable around him by the minute. He was charming and made me feel so good about myself.
We got our frozen yogurt and sat down. I saw that Ana was sitting at a different table. It was like Toby and I were on a date! Oh my gosh I cant believe this is happening, I thought.
"So about earlier tonight..." Toby began to say.
"I know, I know, I was stupid. Sorry about your shirt." I told him, feeling so ashamed of myself.
"Don't worry Lexi! It's not a big deal. You ran away before I was able to talk to you." Toby answered.
"Oh, good." I let out a sigh of relief.
We chatted for a little longer then Toby said,"Well I have to go but why don't we hang out tomorrow and get some lunch at Applebee's at 1."
"Sure." I answered not even aware of what was happening.
"Bye, Beautiful." Toby said, smirking as the door shut behind him.
Did Toby just ask me out on a date?
