New Kid In Town

Greyson's POV

Redhaven, New York.

Population:7,527.

There are 2 grocery stores (Piggly Wiggly and Parker's Grocery).
1 department store( Ross).
3 gas stations (BP, Tom Thumb, and a very sketchy convenience store with no name).
Bean There Done That coffee shop.
4 restaurants( Olive Garden, Longhorn's, McDonald's, and Taco Bell).
And a Wal-Mart.

SMALLEST TOWN EVER!

       I have no idea how I'm possibly gonna live here. I have no friends. I don't know anyone other than my 68 year old grandfather. I'm probably the only supernatural creature in this stupid town.

        I stick my head into my granddad's room to let him know I'm going out.
        "Granddad I'm going to go to the coffee shop and get a coffee and a bite do you want anything."
       "No bud. I'm good. Have a nice time. Try to meet someone new while your out. Ok?" He replies lovingly. I moved here to help him out around the house. He has been getting more forgetful lately.
       I turn and head towards the door. I go out front and get in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The drive to Bean There Done That is actually pretty peaceful. There is no traffic and the wind is blowing just right. I ride with the windows down.

       Upon arriving at the coffee shop I see a group of 6 people about my age laughing and smiling. How I secretly long to have friends here. I really miss my friends back home Mina, Cody, Destiny, Jasmine and Michael. This group really reminds me how much I miss them. They were all human but they knew my secret.

       I order my toasted marshmallow frappuccino and avocado toast and go sit down at a table in the corner alone. I pull out my phone to text my best friend from back home. As I'm typing I feel like someone is watching me. I look up and 2 of the girls from the group have appeared in front of me. I am visibly startled.

       "I'm Stevie." The shorter one with blue hair says excitedly.
       "Jade." The taller one says softly with a light smile.
       "Hello." I say after they've both introduced themselves. "I'm Greyson. I'm the new kid in town."
      "Well Greyson would you like to come sit with us over there so you aren't so lonely over here all alone." Stevie asks rambling on a little.
        I frown a little. "Unfortunately I can't. I have to get back home and unpack and make sure my grandfather is ok."
       "No big deal maybe we'll see you around sometime." Jade replies with little emotion.
       "Alright it was nice meeting you guys." I get up to go throw my trash away and leave.

       When I arrive back to the house granddad is taking a nap on the couch. He stirs a little as I walk in but rolls over and continues napping.

       I head into my new room put on some music and start unpacking my clothes. Before I know I am waking up. I pull my phone out of my pocket and look at the time. 12:47am. I must have fallen asleep while I read unpacking. I decide to go on a walk to get some fresh air.

       I decide it looks like a great night for a run.  I put on a pair of gym shorts and a tee shirt and head out. I quietly peek into granddad's room to check on him. He's in his bed sound asleep.

      I get in my car and drive to a forest at the edge of town. I park next to a shiny black 2017 Kia Soul. I step a few feet into the forest and stand completely still with my eyes closed. Seconds later I am a grey and brown wolf with my clothes laying on the ground beside me. I take off running through the woods. The smell of the night air fills my nose and I howl with joy. As I'm running I hear something, a familiar voice. I stop and stand by a tree. I see the taller girl from earlier, Jade, she is running faster than I've ever seen a human run. Suddenly she leaps onto the back of a wild boar and sinks a pair of razor sharp fangs into its neck. I then see Stevie her small friend suddenly grow from the size of a small doll to normal size. I gasp.

"Stevie and Jade aren't human!" I whisper to myself.

       I run back to where my clothes were got dressed and went home. I have a lot to think about.
