CHAPTER 1
(NEW JOB)I used to be a detective in the NYPD, however after solving a case by using behavioural analysis skills I was forced to do an interview which was seen by the FBI deputy director Erin Straus who offered me a job. I was asked to join the bau based in Quantico, Virginia. I enjoyed being a cop however I felt as if I wasn't going up the food chain and I wanted to be able to do good in the world so i accepted the job moving from New York to Virgina. I enjoyed my job as a detective however I always felt that no one understood my skills. So when I got offered the job I took it without hesitation. Today was my first day on the job, I had been woken up by alarm blaring into my ear so I rolled over turning it off groaning and covering my head into my blanket for a while until I forced myself to get out of bed.
Heading to the bathroom and having a shower before getting dressed into an outfit I had placed on my dresser the night before I wanted to be prepared so I wasn't late. After getting dressed I headed it the kitchen grabbing a bowel out of the kitchen cupboard before pouring myself a bowl of cereal as I sat down and began to eat I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket so I pulled it out to see a text message from an old friend when I was in the police academy "Hey Jo" Alex messaged he was the one who convinced me to take the job at the FBI. "Hey" I messaged I felt nervous because it was my first day at a new job "how are you feeling" Adam then texted as I placed another spoonful of cereal into my mouth "good a little nervous" I said as tapped my feet it was my tell when I was scared or nervous.
"Jo you're gonna do great, you were a great cop it's not your fault the white shirts couldn't see that but the FBI did and you're going to do great there" Alex said which made me smile and gave me a sense of hope "Thankyou Alex I'd better get going don't want to be late" I replied before standing up placing the bowel in the sink, cleaning the bowl and placing it on the rack, before heading back into my room grabbing my badge and gun from my safe hidden inside my beside table and placing my gun into the holster and my badge into the pocket of my jeans before walking over to the mirror in the corner of my room and looking at my reflection.
As I stood there tucking my tshirt into my jeans I took a deep breathe in and out trying to calm myself down as the nerves began to take over but I smiled because I knew that I could do this. I smiled once more before heading out of my room grabbing my keys out of the bowl next to the front door and heading out. I walked down the steps of my apartment I took a deep breathe as I went down every step before I reached my car unlocking it and jumping in throwing my go bag onto the seat beside me, a go bag is a bag with everything FBI agents need if we have to leave immediately for a case.
I decided to bring it with me incase I would start straight away and we would need to leave immediately. I then turned on the car radio and began switching through channels before I found a song that I liked for the journey. Before turning on the engine before I began to drive off as I headed through the city I took everything in around me, because I had only been in Virgina for 2 weeks, and spent most of that time dealing with paperwork for my start at the FBI and didn't have time to explore the city.
When I finally arrived I parked up my car and got out before heading into the building covered in agents and security I was taken through security before walking to the BAU building as I walked there i began to get nervous because as I took each step a each fbi agent turned to look at me analysing me as I walked I headed up a set of stairs before knocking on Aaron Hotchners office door he was the team leader "come in" I heard as I knocked on the door so I opened the door before walking in "Agent Gustin" Aaron said as he pointed to the seat infront of him so I walked into the office before sitting down.
As I sat there nervous I watched him read a file infront of me clearly my file "so you were a detective in the homicide unit in New York?" Agent Hotchner asked even though he knew the answer "yes" I said tapping my feet once again "you have an impressive file I'm surprised the FBI didn't pick you up sooner" Agent Hotchner said with an impressed look on his face. As i sat there I heard a knock on the door "come in" Agent Hotchner said before the door opened a tall blonde woman said in the doorway "we have a case" the blonde woman said as Agent Hotchner began to stand up "Follow me Agent Gustin" He said before I stood up and followed him until we reached a briefing room.
As we walked in there was a large table with agents sat down "who's this" another blonde agent said with glasses, "we can make proper inductions later, everyone this is our new agent SSA Josephine Gustin" Agent Hotchner said pointing to me as I smiled "Hi" I said nervously as I waved "take a seat" Agent Hotchner said before we both sat down "so what do you have for us JJ" a another agent said as JJ pressed a button on the remote she was holding and photos began to appear on the screen. The screen began to fill with gruesome images of bodies from a crime scene.
