ALONE, IS ALL I want to be. Seems like everyone's too busy caring too much or not caring at all. This seemed like the perfect break to clear my head. Though, through this crowd of strangers who I move freely around, free from judgement, I can't stop but think, do my friends even miss me?
I left without telling anyone, I left knowing that this far away place I'd go to would be lacking of signal. I knew I was cut from connections, but I can't stop and wonder, would they be looking for me? Would they be sending me messages asking where the hell I was?
I'm probably being overly dramatic for we're in-between spring break. Booking a ticket to a well known white sand beach was not too sketchy. I'd be able to return eventually.
I really needed this. I was tired of caring too much for people who never gave me worth. I was tired of loving others and not leaving some for myself. I was tired of getting my hopes up just for them to crash down. I was tired of being happy knowing that it wouldn't last for long.
As I walk around shops and restaurants, accidentally bumping into people wearing almost nothing, music blasting out of a live band near the waters, I knew I was calm, but I wasn't happy.
Don't get me wrong, unlike clichés, no one broke my heart, it was just my insecurities bugging me. It was just the failed expectations I wanted people to be.
I just took pictures around the beautiful place, the sun setting, occasionally spotting a good looking boy, just to see that they were with someone. Life is cruel. Finding a hot guy in a hot beach that had the hots for you is more likely to happen in your dreams.
Speaking of dreams, a little store with dreamcatchers caught my eye. I wanted one because they were really pretty, but I never really knew what they did or if they even work. They had all sorts of variety ranging from color and size and apparently the colorful one caught my eye, only to check that it was overpriced.
I was really sad because I really wanted it so I took the hunt to find one of reasonable price. I got to a store and saw the rainbow dreamcatchers I liked, it was slightly cheaper but still overpriced.
Completely bummed out since it was my last day here today and I couldn't find what I wanted to keep as a remembrance of the place, I slowly started finding myself in a walkway full of souvenirs, and this specific one caught my eye.
It looked pretty but old, the stuff almost collecting dust.
"Hello?", i called out.
"How may I help you dear?", a lady with a tired smile approached.
She looked like she was around her 80's. The wrinkles at the side of her eyes as she smiled and tucked her grey hair behind her ear said so.
I don't know why, but I felt some sort of trust in her, which was weird because I had trust issues.
"I was wondering if you had any dreamcatche-"
"Oh! You came to the right place.", she cut me off and smiled even wider, losing her eyes.
She took me further in the store and I spot the dreamcatcher I exactly wanted.
Joy entered me as I saw it's price and I immediately grabbed it.
"Nice choice.", she muttered.
"Thanks."
"Glad I could help."
I went ahead and payed for it and was about to say my goodbyes but then she stopped me.
"Both good and bad dreams descend from the night sky. Bad dreams were captured in a web and held there until the rays of the morning sun evaporated them. Good dreams slipped through the web and unto the dreamer."
"I won't get nightmares after this?", I asked in disbelief.
"Sometimes the things that give great euphoria, utterly make us sad too so, it depends."
"So a I can dream of a stranger taking me to the best date ever, only for him to dump me in the end and I could consider that a good dream?", I joke around, making her smile.
Yet her smile said something, like she saw something coming, or had a thing in mind.
"Actually, we can never really meet strangers in our dreams. If you do see someone unfamiliar, you've probably seen them before yet forgotten them."
"Plus some webs get tangled with each other though, so if you dream about someone, it's likely they're dreaming of you too.", she added.
