The Story

The tears I have shed

The smiles I have faked

The lies I have perfected

The nights I have not slept

The moments I have dreaded

The memories I have forgotten

It's only half the story-

With the tears I have shed

Was the weight lifted off me.

With the smiles I have faked

Were the ones I genuinely meant.

With the lies I have perfected

Came the moments of truth-

A moment of acceptance.

With the sleepless nights came

The nights of blissful dreaming.

With the moments I have dreaded

Have been hope-

A voice whispering it gets better.

Because it does get better.

And with the memories I have forgotten

Have came memories to take their place-

Memories I wouldn't sell for the world.

Just like every story,

Mine has the good and the bad.

I just choose to focus on the good.
