High and Broken // Michael Clifford & Luke Hemmings

Chapter IV

Luke walked back in my room after I invited him. Michael and I were lying on my bed, he had his arm over my shoulder and me leaning against his side. He stopped in his tracks as his eyes glanced from Michael's face to mine, to Michael's arm then to his face and to mine again. I shifted awkwardly sitting up straighter compared to how I was sitting beforehand. I pat my hand next to me on the bed to make the somewhat staring contest a little less awkward. Luke hesitantly walked over to my bed and sat down next to me. I grabbed my TV remote and clicked the power button. My favorite movie was on Saw III. I absolutely loved this movie series, but this one was my favorite from it.

Before we moved I had a Jigsaw doll and it scared the shit out of my mom every time she would come into my room. To little of her knowledge I had a ringtone on my phone that was the laugh that Jigsaw had automatically played when someone lost or won his game. Whenever my mom would stare at my Jigsaw doll for a long period of time I would play the ringtone, it didn't sound like it was right next to her because it echoed a little. She would nearly cry and run out of my room. That's how I avoided all awkward conversations with her. Genius.

Four o'clock in the afternoon and I see my moms car pull into the driveway, I jump up and tell Michael and Luke they need to leave - they both try to go out of my room but I grabbed their arms and told them to go out the window and to hurry. Michael opened the window and told Luke to go first, he followed right after Luke was out of my bedroom window. I grabbed the pizza and snacks I left on my floor and ran to the kitchen to throw the pizza away and throw the snacks in the pantry.

I ran back to my room and grabbed my laptop logging into YouTube and put headphones in, I forgot to shut my tv off so I did so after I played a Pewdiepie video that I had already seen skipping to ten minutes in. My mom knocked on my door and slowly walked in. I pulled my headphones and said, "Hello there. Fun night?"

She smiled at me, "Yes, actually. Very fun night."

I smiled back, "That's great."

She continued to smile back and I stopped clearing my throat - asking, "Um, do you need anything else.?"

She shook her head, "Oh! No, no. Sorry. I'll leave you be."

When she left and shut my door my phone vibrated next to me I picked it up, Luke.

Hey..

I messaged him back Hey, are you okay?

I, I don't know B.

What's wrong Luke?

Are you and Michael a thing now? Or..

Um. I think so, yeah. Why?

Because I really like Bailey and I was just wondering. But there's no one else I wouldn't want to be with you if it can't be me. You deserve the best, and he is.

I smiled to myself, Thank you Luke. And listen, you know I love you and I'm always here for you. Sorry I rushed you guys out so all of a sudden, my mom was home.

I understand he sends.

I didn't know what else to say so I just locked my phone and put it down. I continued to watch Pewdiepie and saw a video that I haven't seen yet, Slender Man. I love that game almost as much as I love the Saw movies. I turned my headphones up and clicked on the video, waiting for it to load my phone buzzes yet again. This time it's Michael.

Yes, yes of course.

I didn't know what else to say so I simply sent Hehe.

What was that all about back at your place? Why couldn't we go out the front door?

My mom came home and I didn't want her to wig out on the two of you.

She knows us though Bailey so I don't understand why she couldn't know that we were there.

She does know you and Luke but what she didn't know is that I invited you guys. You understand?

Yeah, I guess I do. I'm sorry I was just confused.

His emoji weirded me out. I pushed it aside and locked my phone. I let myself slide into a deep sleep and dreamt about both Michael and Luke that night.
