"Coffee and strawberry, one scoop for each" Jesse ordered, when he got Beca's call he rushed to the ice cream store nearest to the station and met up with his best friend.

Ice-cream is always the answer.

"Strawberry. Seriously Jesse? Strawberry?" Beca chuckled and said, "Can't you switch up the flavours even for a bit?"

"Well, it's like our personalities don't you think, you are bitter and has this soul darker than the bottom of the ocean, while I'm sweet and can brightens up people's days." Jesse smirked and handed Beca her cone, "Let's sit down." He suggested and lead Beca to the table next to the window.

"So, what happened, your voice sounded pretty shaky in the phone" Jesse asked in concern

"It all happened so fast," Beca started, "And then it was over." The petite brunette started eating her ice cream, the coffee melted in her mouth, slowly but steadily started calming her senses. She took a deep breath, and looked Jesse in the eye, "I saw Clary."

A hint of confusion mixture with hurt flashed through Jesse's eyes, "You saw Clary." He repeated.

"Yeah, and it turns out, her real name isn't even Clary?" Beca furrowed her brows and laughed awkwardly, her eyes now locked on the dessert she's holding in hand.

"What do you mean her name isn't Clary?" Jesse asked, attention now all focused on the confused brunette in front of him. She looks so lost and fragile and it hurts to see Beca like this. She was getting better, this reunion with Clary isn't exactly what she needs now.

"Her name is Chloe Beale." Beca said, earlier images of her encounter with Chloe flashed through her mind, there were so many questions she wanted to ask her, why couldn't she contact her, why did she leave no trace behind, why did she just, disappear.

Why?

How?

But most importantly, Beca wanted to tell her how sorry she is, for everything.

She remembered confronting her dad about the glass sculpture in the trash can, turns out, it was her dad who got rid of it, he said it was ugly, and fragile and that it's not what his daughter needed in her life. Her dad was probably the one who drove Clar- Chloe away, Beca has no idea what her dad said, but she's certain for a fact that what her dad said, broke Chloe. Chloe was too pure for this world, too innocent for the darkness swallowing up people's souls.

Huh, it's going to take Beca awhile to get used to the name Chloe.

"Chloe Beale." Jesse repeated, "So she's been lying about her identity this whole time?"

"I don't know." Beca sighed, "and she just looks so... different, you know? She's now blonde and got rid of her glasses, god she looks just as beautiful as I remembered," the brunette said with a sad smile hung on her face.

"So you two didn't have the time to catch up," Jesse guessed, "Because she's probably too sad to talk to you, because you hurt her, and she doesn't want to relive the pain."

"I didn't hurt her, I was in an accident," Beca argued, yet weakly.

"She doesn't know that," Jesse pointed out, "What she knows, is that YOU didn't show up, what she knows, is that YOU left a letter telling your dad you are going to give her up, what she knows, is that YOU disappeared." The boy paused to take a good bite of his ice cream and continued, "Now I don't know why she has this completely new identity thing going on, this is probably for you to find out, but from the Clary or Chloe I know, she probably has her reasons. But Beca, this is all up to you to find out."
