「「A R I A 」」
I have been married for two weeks, and let's just say being a wife isn't easy and my life as a queen was pretty hectic. The day after the welcome party, I was at the market, trying to socialize and buy food stuff.
When I was talking to one of the market sellers, I fainted. . . And let's just say it didn't go well with Adekunle, my bodyguards immediately rushed me to the hospital. Adekunle kept yelling at me and calling me irresponsible. I didn't even do anything, I was simply out without his permission.
On the other hand, the media got a hold of my pregnancy and it was all over the news. I didn't know how to feel about it, since everyone thought that Adekunle was the father of my child.
I remember crying myself to sleep that night, since I was all alone. . . My dear husband avoided me like a plague, he was never at home. The next day Adekunle's mom and sister offered to take me shopping, and I happily agreed, I needed to find something suitable for my child.
I was currently getting ready to go shopping with my in-laws. I was humming when Agnes, Adekunle's nanny since birth came in.
"They are waiting for you in the car, my queen."
"How many times do I have to remind you, call me Aria!" She smiled before replying, "I'll keep that in mind, now go have fun."
I got into the car and greeted queen Waje and princess Folake. I flashed them a brief smile and greeted, "good afternoon, your majesties."
"Ah, how are you my dear?" Queen Waje asked.
"Fine ma, I'm sure you are doing fine, since your glowing."
The next thirty minutes came by quickly, because we were chatting the whole way there, I learned that Adekunle was turning 30 in a few months. I also got to know that he loved cheesecakes, and chocolate ice cream.
I didn't want to know anything about him, but I was left with no choice.
"Hope you don't mind us renting the mall for the day? It's best if we have privacy."
I smiled and replied, "it's normal, my parents do the same."
We got into the first baby shop and I was in the verge of tears, everything looked so marvelous and I couldn't wait for my baby's arrival.
A blue overall caught my eyes, I parted ways with queen Waje, who was already buying the whole store.
As I picked it up, I imagined my baby wearing it. Talk about dreams coming true, I have dreamt about this before!
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Folake asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yes, I'll take it."
The rest of the day transpired in a flash, we almost bought the whole mall. I successfully purchased the cutest crib, it was perfect.
Another week had passed and I was four weeks pregnant, this baby has turned me into an emotional glutton.
"Get ready, my mom said I should escort you to the garden, her prestigious friends are having tea," Adekunle said, looking up from his phone.
I mentally groaned. I really did not want to be around people, especially high classed people.
Let's drink tea! An ugly voice chimed.
"What should I wear?" I asked, in a serious tone.
Adekunle looked at me, slightly narrowing his eyes before speaking, "go naked, I'm sure you're used to it."
With that said, he walked away leaving me feeling hurt. . . So much for being my husband.
A few minutes later, I came out in a white gown stopping by my knees. I walked over to my husband's office, the door was slightly open and I could hear him speaking on the phone. His voice was rough and he was saying something about giving someone more money.
As if he noticed me, he hung up. I stood there for a second before knocking, after being permitted to enter, I walked in.
"I'm ready."
Just as the words left my mouth, his eyes met mine and my heart rate increased and I didn't know where to look. I couldn't look anywhere because his eyes were dominating me. . . As if daring me, to look away.
His eyes scanned my attire and with a loud hiss, he spoke, "go and change."
My eyes shot up, I gave him a perplexed look. "Why? See, let's go abeg."
He angrily walked over to me, and pinned me against the wall, and just then. . . My gaze went to the light fixtures around the office.
Beautiful light fixtures! Wow, I'm going to stare at you forever.
"Listen, and listen carefully. . . I am your husband, and you will not disrespect me. As my wife, you should learn how to dress properly, not like some cheap hoë, go and get rid of that skimpy rag," he dangerously barked at me, I shivered in fear and quickly sprinted into the bedroom.
