Five hundred people, one night, two girls. Who discovered it all. It was a sunny shallow night when They had discovered the true hidden mystery of the town hidden under water. Nobody ever really knew that they lived under water in a dome, everybody heard rumors about it of course but no one actually believed it except Ashley. Of course some people had some suspicions but not as many suspicions as Ashley. She had never tried to escape until that very night, when Ashly decided to set out and risk it all.
She headed out at midnight when the whole town was asleep. She knew that she would need plenty of supplies but she didn't know how long she would be gone. She gathered her items that she thought she would need and headed out. But there was just one problem, she didn't know how to get out. She tip toed as quitely as she could throughout the town trying to see anything that caught her eyes. She had a sneaking suspicion that someone was watching her, although nobody was watching her, she still had that feeling at the pit of her stomach. No one could know that she was leaving, other wise they would tell the whole town and the goverment would stop her. The government made it very clear that it was against the law to leave city limits. The government were the only people that knew, or so that she has heard from other people. The rumor was that if the government caught you, then that person would be held against multiple charges.
She had already walked four miles and was tired and hungry, she began to sit down on the side of the road and eat something. She brought along a couple snacks to eat incase she got hungry. As she began to sit down she saw the city limits sign and continued. All the cities were small but had many towns hidden within. Farther up the road she saw a person, a person she had never seen before. But again she couldn't really tell because the person was a mile up the road from her. As she got farther up the road she saw the person sit down, so se began to run as fast as she could because she was beginning to think she was lost. Then she had seen a person she had seen before. Suddenly she saw her best friend Jade.
"What are you doing out here, out of city limits this late?", Accused Ashely.
"Promise not to tell anyone?", Jade affirmed
"Yes I promise!", Ashley agreed
"Okay, Im leaving the Town Of Water.", Acknowledged Jade.
"Why?", Asked Ashley.
"Haven't you heard all of the rumors about that we live underwater in a dome? ", Jade blurted
"Yeah, I'm doing the exact same thing as you. I want to leave this town, it's dull, boring, nothing to do, nothing exciting. Sometimes as I lay in bed at night I wonder if we are really under water in a dome, and if all of those rumors are all true. Then think, if we really do live underwater in a dome like all the rumors say then is there life above the water, is there things to do, things to see, people to talk to, is there life above the sea?", Ashley confirmed.
"I worry and wonder about those things every single night and let me tell you, and when I think about it I get this feeling at the pit of my stomach that I was meant to explore the world. I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one you wonders about these things, until now. I didn't even know that you were wondering about the same things and your my best friend..", Exclaimed Jade.
"That feeling bugs me so much and makes me want to explore and find new towns and city's in the world. By the way I had that same feeling in my stomach like nobody believed in all the rumors said. And that only life in the dome exists.", Says Ashley.
"Do you even have a clue on a way to get out of the dome?", Asks Ashley.
"Kinda, I have a pretty good idea of where it might be and I think I might be right.", Jade says.
"Where, and are we going to go together?", Ashley hinted.
"You were headed the right way. We have to keep on walking until we reach the city called Bethena. Next we have to walk west for five miles. And according to this book there will be a secret elevator, that will bring us up to sea level. From there on I do not know the rest of the way.", Says Jade.
"Where did you get that book and why are there some pages ripped out?", Ashely mentioned.
"I got the book from." Jade stops.
"From where!", says Ashley.
"From the Bethena library." Mumbled Jade.
" What? Have you been to Bethena before?"
"Yes, I couldn't stand the the feeling of not knowing what was up at sea level, near beyond the dome. So one night I decided to head out and try to find some evidence of it or how to get above sea level. Later that night I finally reached Bethena to find a library on the corner of fifth and Main Street, so then of course being me I had to go to the library to see if they had any books about water town. When I found out that they did, I checked it out went back to water town. When I got back it was day time already so I had to sneak back in. Because you know what happens when you get caught leaving water town. I decided to wait a little bit to leave again at night so nobody would think I looked suspicious. ", noted Jade.
"So why are there some pages ripped out? ", Ranted Ashley.
"I don't know, because on my way here I began to look at the book and they weren't there so I figured that I could find a way out myself.", said Jade.
" Oh well I was just going to wing it and find some clues..", Replied Ashley.
"Look!!! Is that what I think it is?" , Says Jade excitedly.
"Bethena!!" They screamed together.
"Okay so at the Bethena sign we walk west for five miles. "Says Jade.
"Can I ask you a question?" , says Ashley.
"Yeah sure." Says Jade
"Why didn't you tell me about this. You know the part about you. Leaving water town and you wondering if all of the rumors were true?" , Ashley stated.
"Because I didn't think you believed all of the rumors and the stories that everyone in water town tells everyone." , teased Jade
"We'll just know that you can come to be for anything whether I believe in it or not.", answers Ashley.
" Okay I will from now on", says Jade.
"Do you think we are getting close to the elevator?" , Ashley whined.
"Yes we should be coming up to it any second now." Says Jade.
"Okay" , says Ashley.
"There it is." , says Ashley.
They stopped in pure silence no movement no nothing.
"I guess this is it.", Warned Jade
"How about we put our sleeping bags on the ground and sleep here for the night, because it is almost one a clock in the morning. When we wake up in the morning we will eat then continue on our journey.", says Jade
"Sounds good" , says Ashley
"One more thing" , says Ashley as they lay down in there sleeping bags.
"Yeah"
"Do you think anyone is going to realize that we are gone in the morning?" Asks Ashley.
" I hope not ", Jade says worried
"Be time they wake up in the morning we will be on sea level before you know it.", says Jade.
"Goodnight", says Ashley
"Night", Jade yawns.
