I ran far into the woods, colapsing in a heap on the ground. Ththough I couldn't see it, the moon hung low in the black sky. As the cold rain fell and hit my burning back, the fire in my belly spread everywhere. My arms and legs shifted into furry apendaged if large paws with rasor sharp paws. My ears moved to the top of my head and became pointed and fuzzy. My nose and mouth grew outward to form a muzzle. A bushy black tail sprouted out of my lower back ans my spine shifted into that of a canine. I groaned in pain as this happened, it was always the most painful part of the change. The last things to change were my teeth and eyes. My mout began to fll with terribly sharp teeth and the color in my eyesight dimmedit to mostly black and white. I stood on shaking legs and shook out my black fur. I was in my inner for now, that of a beast.
I howled long and deep at where the moon would be behind the thick clouds. A tear rolled doun my furry face. Not because of the pain from the change but because of what I was. And what I had killed. But lateley, I had been good.
I only killed animals now. I had been doing so for about 6 months. It had been awhile since I had killed something that didn't live in the woods. I still dreaded the days that the full moon came. I was absolutly terrified of killing the wrong thing. Sometimes I couldn't control myself.
It was a month after my outting with John. And it had been a month since my encounter with the very loveley Silverdust. I couldn't get her out of my head. I wasn't sure if it was because I couldn't have her or she sisnt want me. Maybe I was so hung up on her because of her emmence beauty and grace. That's all I could think of. How her eyes sparkles, how her hair moved as she effortlessly swung around her dancing pole. I also kept thinking about the painful smack she gave me. Besides the pain from the slap, toucher touchimg me felt good.
My train of thought was interrupted by a bunny crossing my path. I attacked it with a quick snap of my jaws. I still haven't mastered how to eat anything without making a big mess. Throughout the evening, 4 more bunnies follwed along with a small doe. I went to a nearby creek for a drink of water.
I looked at the reflection of my big wolf head in the water. I was glad that the rain blurred my image. I swatted at my own reflection with one of my claws, hating what I was. I walked away, only to hear a deep, booming growl from beind me.
I turned to see a pair of glowing red eyes watching me in the underbrush. I dug my paws into the ground and growled back, hair standing on end. The other creature launched itself out of the trees and landed about 10 feet before me. It was a large wolf, about twice my size and 3 times my weight. His greasy grey fur glisened in the dim light. It opened its mouth to reveal a mouth full of large, yellowing fangs. Spit dripped from its opened jaws and I snarled back. Nothing I could do would phase him.
He pounced on me. I narrowly avoided him, but getting clwed in my side. Before I could run, the other wolf was upon me. He riped at my stomach and chest while he bit my neck. My vison was filled with stars, I was slowly fading away.
This is it. I thought. Then, the wolf jumped off of me and ran off. My injuries were so severe that I turned back into a human. I had large gashes that were bleeding profusely. I tried to stay concious, but I slowly blacked out.
I vagely remember someone shaking me, calling my name. I didn't know who it was because their voice seemed like a mile away. I then felt like someone was carring me out of the woods. Whoever was there, if anyone, kept saying over and over
" c'mon George. Don't die on me. Please..."
