No Coffee

"No. No coffee. Just a cake pop." I reminded Gabe. The coffee at Starbucks would taste fine if I liked coffee. But it always has that bitter taste in my mouth.  And it burns my tongue every time.

"I don't understand. Why would you wear that, Fred?" Amanda asked, teasing Fred's style. Fred just rolled his eyes and took another sip of the Unicorn Frappuccino Gabe had given him.

Gabe liked Fred. Fred liked Gabe. They both just didn't know it, and I was sworn to secrecy by both of them.

I took the cake pop Gabe had passed back, and just took a big bite, stuffing most of it in my mouth.

"Mason!" Amanda said, laughing. She was laughing so hard her Coffee apparently couldn't stay in her mouth, and she looked at me and coffee came out of her mouth.

"Amanda! You got it on me!" I shouted at her. That just made her laugh more, and Fred to start. Gabe just sighed.

"We can turn around. You can grab a shirt from my house." Gabe said, turning around at the stop sign. I saw Fred look like he was jealous, but that was covered up when Gabe smiled at him. Then he smiled widely.

We pulled up in Gabe's driveway, and I ran inside.

"Hi, Mason." His mom said. I waved quickly and ran upstairs, 5th door, on the right. I grabbed a random blue shirt. I got it on but was in such a hurry my arms got stuck.

I let out a frustrated groan. I ran back down the stairs, tripping and rolling. I finally fixed my shirt and waved bye to his mom. She waved back, laughing.

I sighed and ran back to the jeep, Gabe starting the car and going quickly.

"Gabe, slow down," Fred said, looking at the speed Gabe was going. Gabe slowed a little but was still going at 95.

Even I was getting a little scared now.

"Gabe, whats wrong?" I asked, slightly worried. He was never this mad.

"Gabe, it's not a big deal, really," Fred told him.

"He called you straight, Fred!" No, no, no......

"And it isn't the first fucking time!" he said, hitting his hand on the steering wheel.

Dylan is Fred's bully. Ever since their breakup, he's been sour to all of us, but mostly Fred.

" It's okay. I don't care. Let it be, Gabe!" Fred yelled back.

"No, I won't let it be! He needs to stop!"

"I'm used to it..." Fred said quietly. Gabe calmed down, and his eyes got softer like he just turned off a switch.

"You shouldn't have to be, Fred," Gabe said, reaching over and taking Fred's hand.

Amanda looked over at me, her eyes wide.

Then she smiled, took another drink of her coffee and acted like she was going to spill it on me again.
