"Mommy the ghosts are coming." said a boy just like he did everynight as he got tucked in to bed by his mother. The sheets were nice and cold just how The Boy liked them, he wriggled deeper under them.
The Mother laughed, just as she did every night "There are no such things as ghosts honey" she said as she usually did every night, then she planted a kiss on his head just like she always did, every damn night.
"Mom! listen." The Boy grabbed his moms cheeks and looked into her eyes seriously "they, are, coming, to get, us." he said.
The Mom laughed again and pulled his hands away from her face and put them on the bed then patted them. "sweetie ghosts arn't real."
"are you sure?" he asked quietly as his mother put those nice cold sheets back around him.
"Yes honey I'm positive they're all just figments of your imagination." said The Mother smiling and kissing his forehead again, just like she did every other night.
"good lord help us, I tried" thought The Boy grabbing ahold of his teddy that had been sitting on the night stand next to his bed, then, hugging it tightly, said sweetly to his mother "okay mommy you're right."
The Mother then left the side of the bed and smiled back at her kid just like she did everynight and said "I know I am, I love you, goodnight." then she turned around and closed the door leaving the boy alone in the room, just like she did every night.
"i love you to" The Boy said shakily just like he did everynight. The Boy looked around the room. Was it just him or did it seem to be getting bigger? He pulled Teddy closer to him, Teddy always kept him safe, Teddy loved him and protected him. The Boy looked around the room again, it was deffinetly getting bigger. Suddenly there was a scratching noise at the window. Teddy will protect him. The window flew open silently and the silver curtains fluttered in the breeze. were they that color before? A mist seemed to fill the room making it harder to see. Teddy Loved him, Teddy will protect him. The mist seemed to flow quietly in a circle as someone or something entered the room. Teddy would never leave him. The rocking chair in the corner creaked. Teddy will protect him. The mist swirled again as whatever it was approched the bed. Teddy loved hi- Teddy was launched out of his arms and thrown in the corner.
"Teddy?"
The phantoms were here, just like they were everynight.
And The Boy screamed, just like he did, every night.
