Once upon a time, a poor widow lived with her two daughters. The girls were called Snow White and Rose Red.
One cold winter's evening , they were sitting beside the fire when there was a knock at the door. Rose Red ran to pull it open. “Aaaaahhhh!" she screamed. She was face to face with a big brown bear. “ Do not be afraid. I won't hurt you," said the bear in a surprisingly gentle voice. “May I come in to warm myself beside your fire?"
“Please do, you poor bear!" said the widow.
