When The Titan Falls

"My intention was not to fall in love with this cadet. I took him into my personal custody because I saw within his eyes a fire, a burning flame of hope that I had seen nowhere else. Know more, experience more and be a shoulder for him to cry on if ever he admits it to himself. He's both persistent and insistent, normally not a good blend in my books but this kid was an exception for some reason. "

Levi snapped out of his little narrative inner monologue to the sound of a titan screaming. He was confused for a moment as to why a titan would scream in agony until he remembered.... Eren.... They had sent him in titan form to hold off the colossal titan until they had the wall breached. But a scream meant that things were not going in erens favour once more. Swiftly swapping his empty gas for full ones, Levi rocketed towards the sounds of constant titan screams and roars of warning to stay away. The captain paid these no heed and continued to see how he could assist his friend in the distracting of the beast. However upon arrival he saw something he wished he could wash from his twisted mind. A twitching titan carcass being eaten alive. A very specific titan carcass.
"EREN!" Levi yelled, his face showing all the many emotions he had hidden over the years. As he looked closer at the neck of the beast he found small, currently  helpless eren surrounded by tendrils of muscle conjoining him and the body. A plan began to rapidly form as Levi zipped over the rooftops. Upon seeing Levi the titan had lashed back with the only arm it had left (Hehe it was his left hand. I'll go die now) punching the colossal in the eyes. As the muscle beast fought to regain its sight Levi swooped in and had to physically slice through the muscles to get to erens limp human body. It was almost too disgusting for levis ocd to handle but for the sake of eren he would do anything. He ragged eren free just as the titan grasped hold of erens limp arm and ragged it. Eren screamed so loud it made the captains ears ring painfully as his arm was ripped straight from the socket as if it were nothing but a child's play dough model. Clutching the sobbing and bleeding boy to his chest Levi took off through the air once more.
"come on eren... Please don't die on me now" he whispered mournfully and was surprised when he got a response.
"didnt....realise.....i...... Meant.... That.... Much..... Captain...." he gasped but Levi got the message and hugged him tighter, careful not to harm him. They tumbled in a heap at the top of the wall as they ran out of gas but they had made it. Barely out alive.
" Levi..... "he heard a gasp and leaned down.
"yes jaeger?" he was worried.
"I'm.... So... Sorry for...... Being a..... Selfish..... Brat" he gasped and passed out in levis arms.
"doctor, someone help!" this was the first time the Levi squad had seen him so distraught and filled with emotion.
"Sir! His pulse is weak but definitely there. Just keep talking to him until we can get him onto oxygen masks!" even bubbly hanji was forlorn at the sight.
"hey jaeger, it's Captain Levi. I wanted to give you a personal thank you for saving us all from the colossal, you have aided us in the defence of trost" with each word Levi stroked shady brown hair lovingly.
"he's going to pull through if we are lucky!" they had got him some mild medicines to ease the pain and after that his pulse had become stronger and more regular. Levi had been anxious and depressed since eren went into a coma but now, the shining bright look in his eyes was plenty for his squad to see his joy. Bright, intelligent green eyes blinked open and fixed on Levi.
"captain.." levi whipped around to face eren who was still lying on a stretcher.
"am I a brat? A waste of space?" he muttered sadly, grassy green eyes gleaming with unshed tears.
"no jaeger. You are hope, you are a symbol of our freedom, you are clever, kind, caring and desperate to end the reign of titans. You, are a scout." with his last statement Levi removed his leather jacket with the scout corps symbol and swept it around eren. He helped him get his arm into one sleeve and the other sleeve hung loose.
" now and forever you will fight for us, we will defend you and work with you. Be there when you need us" Levi gently combed erens hair with his pale fingers. The small boy fell into a contented sleep from the gas they filled his mask with. That was until his mask effects wore off.

He was running. There was nowhere he could go... How does he get away? There is no exit only more pain. Where was Levi? His captain? The blackness around him shattered like rotten wood revealing the glassy expressions of all his dead friends. Eren screamed and continued screaming.

"eren! Eren! EREN?!" Levi finally shook his screaming friend awake.
"l-levi oh thank god you are OK.... The others are they OK?" erens breathing was unhealthily fast so Levi soothed him.
"they are all fine, everyone is OK" eren sobbed and clung to as much of levis shirt as he could get with all the drip wires all over him.

The next morning when the others came to the hospital they found Levi and eren snuggled up, sharing a bed and looking overall at peace with the world. They were a mass of limbs and hair so the others just awed and waited for the pair to wake. Levi was first of course, with a very grumpy 'I'm not a morning person' look on his face before eren sat up slowly yawning and blinked a few times to get his bearings. Upon feeling the air conditioning however he snuggled back into levi's chest.
"noo your warm don't move" he whined weakly with a happy smile when Levi simply wrapped his arms around the drowsy teen.
"you guys are too cute. Literally I'm barfing. When will you be back in business?" Mikasa, always worried about his safety.
"tom-"
"at least four days" Levi cut eren off without any remorse.
"buuut leeeeevvvviiiiii~"
"no" eren pouted but still snuggled further into Levi and relaxed.
"we'll leave you lovebirds to it, we're off to kick some titan butt so I'll say hi to the colossal for you two" Mikasa and armin grinned before leading Connie, Jean, Marco, reiner and Annie away from the room. Once they were back in peace the two caught up on missing sleep curled up in the security of one another.
