Harper's P.O.V.
It was just another murder.
Okay... that sounds bad, but that's what it was!
I had walked through the doors to find an officer inspecting me top to bottom. Not wanting it to go any further, I told him to move then proceeded to push him away.
I strolled over to the operation table that was currently home for the lifeless body laying on top.
"What's the case so far?" I asked the nearest forensic scientist.
"W-w-well" the scientist cleared his throat. "So far we found th-th-that the cause of death was a bullet through the head, and after that her skin was ripped off and clumps of hair were torn or cut. Then uh..." he hesitated and looked slightly sick as he thought about what he was about to say.
"Well!?" I asked impatiently.
"Her... her eyes were removed from her skull and replaced with some strange black orbs."
I was un-phased by this statement. I simply pulled back the white sheet covering her. The seemingly burnt fingers had bones showing and were stained red with blood.
I pulled back the part of the sheet covering the head... or at least what was left of it. Some skin was left near the top of the head, though some muscles were exposed and had chunks cut out of them.
I put some of the near by gloves on and opened the mouth to find that there was only a stump of a tongue, if you could even call it that.
Drawing my attention back to the face. Sure enough, as the scientist had said, the woman's eyes were removed from her skull and replaced with black orbs that reflected the bright LED hospital lights above to give the appearance of her eyes following you.
I placed the sheet carefully back over the face and turned my attention to another scientist.
"Full name?" I said maybe sternly. The woman trembled with fear and squeaked out "Lilly Anne Green." I rolled my eyes and let out a sigh. "No. The corpse's full name." I put my hand to the bridge of my nose and pinched it slightly. "O-oh. Uhm Rose Lainey White."
It was then when I got suspicious. Though I merely shrugged it off as coincidence.
Once again, I directed my attention to something else, which happened to be the x-ray screen. I glanced up at it and then locked my eyes at something under the broken rib cage.
"Zoom in on the fractured rib cage." I said pointing at the screen.
I pulled out my small notepad full of poems, story ideas and case clues. I never go anywhere without it. Ever.
Jotting down what I had observed, a smile smile played on my lips.
I flipped the pad closed and crossed my arms.
"Take your pictures ladies, because we're slicing this baby open" I smirked. Cutting this open would give us our first and much needed clue. well this would be very fun.
