I was just a normal girl, living a normal life, in a normal world. Well, that's what I thought before I met Them.
I used to be a barista working at the local cafe in New York City, New York. I lived in a two-bedroom apartment with my dog, Skyler, and took frequent visits to the park. I had a fair amount of money and usually spent it on shopping sprees with my best friend, Shelly Wray. I had almost everything I had ever wanted. Life was good. But that all changed on November 5, 2017. Aka, Gunpowder Day.
It was a terrible day....Wait. Let me back up to when it was a good day...
Okay, it was a good day. The birds were singing and the streets of New York City were buzzing with cars and people on their way to work. The arms of the rising sun had just reached over the skyscrapers, painting the horizon a beautiful mixture of pink, red, and orange. The wind blew in my jet black hair as I rode my bike down the sidewalks of Time Square. Ads lit up the area on the screens coating the buildings around me, reflecting off of my shiny hair and stormy grey eyes. I was heading to work at the Hard Rock Cafe on Broadway street. My bicycle gracefully rolled across one half of an intersection like a wave creeping it's way up the sand of a seashore.
I glanced to my right at the cars lined up down the street, impatiently waiting for their turn to cross the street. I smiled and waved a bit nervously at the cars, silently praying that the angry-looking drivers didn't decide to slam their foot on the pedals.
The next few moments happened in slow motion. I turned my head when I heard the car approaching. My eyes grew from calm to wide as I noticed it was a limousine and it wasn't slowing down. I tried to pedal faster. If I stopped, I would surely get hit. But the limousine was too fast. With a large crash, the bumper of the limo collided with the front wheel of my bike. The momentum sent me flying through the air. I saw a face in the window peering up at me and smirking as I soared through the air. It was a man that had wavy dark brown hair with bright, dazzling blue eyes. His smirk showcased a dimple as his dazzling eyes followed me through the windshield. I half wanted to raise my hand and wave- the guy was pretty damn hot! But there was no time for that. I slowly turned in midair to see hundreds of people covering their mouths with a hand and watching, wide eyed. I caught a glimpse of my bike bouncing like a rabbit through the end of the intersection and several cars swerving to avoid it. I can't remember anything past that, because that was when I hit the ground.*Hey, guys! If you are reading this, thank you so much!
