I don't know if that was the plan. If they were planning on knocking me out whether it was from shock or if they had to do it themselves. Well, whether it was their plan or not, it worked out well for them. When I passed out, it gave them the chance to kidnap me.
I woke up a few hours after I fainted to the sight of hazel eyes.
"Well, well, well! The Little Sparrow is up! Hey guys, she's awake!" The woman mocked.
My eyes scanned the area around me and I frowned. I was in a van decorated with weapons: varieties of guns, bow and arrows, grenades, daggers, and machetes. The walls of the van were wide and painted black and the air smelled of sweat and blood.
My gaze flickered back up to the woman, who had light auburn hair that fell over her shoulders and hovered above my face as she bent over me. A few seconds later, two men joined her in staring at me with a minuscule smirk. One man pulled out a camera and took a picture, the action releasing a bright flash. I raised my arms on reflex to shield my eyes from the blinding light as I sat up, groaning. "Well, I was about to say 'why don't ya take a picture? It'll last longer!' But it looks like you've already got that covered."
The woman and the men exchanged an unreadable glance with another small smirk. The woman looked back at me and grinned. "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, didn't they?"
"Actually, I woke up in some strangers van!" The memories from the few hours before hit me and I shouted. "After I found out someone killed my best friend! Did you kill Allison? Why'd you kidnap me? Where are we going?! You know what, forget it! I don't care, just get me out of this damn van!"
"Whoa, so many questions! Calm down, Little Sparrow," the man that took a picture of me said. His skin was dark and he was a bit chubby, like a giant teddy bear. He offered his hand to help me up, but I just glared at him and stood up on my own. With a smile-to-frown transformation, he continued. "All of them will be answered when we get to the headquarters. For now, we need to get you some Advil. I'm sure you have a migraine; you had a heavy fall."
As if on cue, a splitting headache entered my head, causing me to groan in pain.
"Go get her some, Earl," the woman said.
Earl, the teddy-bear-looking man, nodded and turned around, unfastening a small cabinet behind him.
"It's Sporrow, by the way. Not sparrow. Natalia Sporrow." I threw my hand over my mouth and prayed that they didn't hear me, but by that time it was too late. I figured that they were dangerous, and if I escaped and they knew my name, they could hunt me down and exterminate me.
"We already know that Little Sparrow," a third voice chimed. The man that had bent over me along with Earl and the woman stepped forward. He had exotic, emerald eyes and dark brown hair with a touch of stubble on his chin, which made my heart skip a beat. He stepped closer and grabbed my chin with one of his hands and turned my face as if examining it. On instinct, I launched my leg up and kicked him in a place that no man wants to be kicked. With a roar of pain, he staggered back, holding the crotch of his pants.
Taking the opportunity, I threw myself against the back doors of the van. "Whoa there, Little Sparrow! Calm down!" The woman shouted. I ignored her and used all of my strength to launch myself against the back doors over and over again. They shook and I found a latch. Clutching the latch, I pulled as hard as I could and the doors swung open. The van swerved to the side as cold air rushed in and the sight of multiple cars on a highway filled my gaze. I was thrown to a wall of the van as it rolled off of the road and onto a grassy area filled with rocks and a small ditch. Pain streaked throughout my body as my shoulder was slammed against the corner of a small TV attached to the wall, the impact causing the TV to jolt up and fall to the ground.
A pair of large hands, Earl's I estimated, grabbed onto my arms and lifted me off of the ground so that my feet were dangling inches above the floor. I screamed and struggled to loosen his grip but it was no use. The woman wrapped my arms around my back and held them together while the man that I had kicked sent me a death glare. He leaned over to the doors of the van, and careful not to fall out, pulled them shut, throwing the latch down to lock them.
"Ava! Hold her down," the driver shouted.
Ava nodded and swept my legs, causing me to fall back down to the floor. Swiftly, she whipped my arms to my sides and climbed on top of me so that she held my arms and legs down with her own.
"Shit!" I shouted. I managed to pull one of my legs from her grip and quickly kneed her in the stomach so hard that it knocked her off of me. I jumped to my feet and grabbed an arm I saw coming at me, twisting it and slamming it against one of the walls of the van. Earl launched himself at me with a roar but I quickly jumped to the side, causing him to run the doors of the van. Arms grabbed my sides and I whipped around and slammed my fist into the man-whom-I'd-kicked-earlier's face. He staggered back and I turned around to see Earl unconscious on the floor. Ava rolled onto her side and pulled herself off of the ground. I could tell that I had done some damage to her and felt slightly guilty about it, she didn't seem that bad. But the guilt didn't hold me back from trying to get out of there. The driver swerved the van again and I yanked the latch-up. Just before the doors swung open, Ava yanked me back by my hair. I yelped in pain and used my arms to swivel myself around and slam my fist into the closest body part to me at the time. My knuckles contacted with her shoulder with a large crack and her eyes rolled into the back of her head as I stepped on a still unconscious Earl's back.
I leaped off of his head and rolled onto the ground as the van drove off.
