Punishment

It's been a few weeks since what happened in Mr. Edwards's office. It's hunting season, and now it's raining and cold outside, and I'm in this creepy old castle by myself and with a few ladies in waiting. Mr. Edward is with a group of young men to join him in the hunt.  Lizzy and the old maid went into town for a few days for new supplies, to entertain Mr. Edwards and his friends when they get back.

Only a few ladies in waiting are still in the castle, they didn't like the idea of killing an animal for the fun of it. Also, Lady Edward didn't like the idea of too many ladies and not enough young men to keep the young ladies in waiting entertained.

Right now Lady Edward is in England getting a treatment done, for her stomach. I heard from Lizzy that she is grumpy and her rudeness becomes unbearable when she gets home. Lizzy said to take it easy until they get back. We have much to do before Mr. Edwards and his friends gets back. Mr. Edward should be back, anytime now.

I've been lonely, here since Lizzy and the old maid left. I wrote everything that happened between me and Andrew; I mean Mr. Edwards in his office. If he does anything more I will have to tell someone, but he hasn't tried doing anything yet. I have been trying to avoid him. So I wouldn't have to kiss him any time he wanted me too. I did write Riley and my family letters after everyone left. The letter I sent to Riley explained where I am, what happened to me. I wrote how much I wanted to see him and that I want to be with him. It was good to finally write my family and Riley a letter, even if I had to beg the mailman to send it.

I wish I could invite my brothers or my family, to come over. I need Lady Edwards or Mr. Edwards permission to have someone over or visit anyone. Someone has already tried that and tried to run away, without paying. That's why the Edwards family has to be harder on the slaves that works here in the house. I found that out by over hearing the ladies in waiting talk.

      I wasn't about to go outside. It's a sad and depressing when it's this time of season. I don't think I can just stay here in my room another day and not do anything.  With this weather Lizzy and the old maid might take even longer to get back here. They are supposed to be here sometime today.

      I decided I should walk around the castle and explore the castle before anyone comes back. I've only been in the part of the castle I've been assigned too.

        I walked around first, second and third floor, what I have left is the fourth floor of the castle with the bedroom and Mr. Edwards' library. I have been into the bedroom before, so I don't need to go in there when I don't have too. The library is the only place I haven't been yet. The maids aren't supposed to be here. Only Mr. Edwards and his family, plus a few friends from what I've been told. With my curiosity getting the best of me I can't help but wonder why I can't go into Mr. Edwards' office. I am the only one here in the castle who is going to find out? If anything I would only have to kiss Mr. Edwards again. That would be the only punishment that's fine. I can't take that again.

      The door was unlocked I slowly walked into the room. The library has beautiful pictures and art hanging from the walls and many bookcases. In the middle of the room was a table and chairs. With more book is stacked on top of the table next to candles. With different genres, titles and some I couldn't even read the titles. I think Latin words on the velvet cover of the book. Looking at all the books one was on top of Mr. Edwards's chair with a handwritten note. I picked up the green velvet book that's has the note attached to it.

     To my dearest Esmeralda, this is for you. I bought this for you when I was in London.
