*NOTE* Guys. This chapter is just introducing the characters, something I've never really been too good at. Please, bare with me through this one. *NOTE END*
It was the first day back at school from Summer break, always quite the eventful day, what with the amount of catching up to do. I'm one of the lucky ones, I'm in a class specifically for those with wealthy parents paying for their children to have a more luxurious school life. Don't get me wrong, we do work hard. The 7 students in this class are the top 7 in the country when it comes to grades. The school leave us to study on our own terms, our area in the school is merely a playground to support our studies. The students in this class are required to wear different uniform, therefore, we stand out like a sore thumb.
I arrived at school as usual and made my way around the main building to the glass house at the back, which the 7 of us used as a second home, of sorts. The sun was beating down on me, it was times like these I was truly thankful that I wasn't required to carry my books with me. I undone the buttons on my brown cardigan and hung it over my shoulder, walking along in just my white shirt, brown tie and black trousers. I let out a sigh as I pushed open the door to the glass house.
I was greeted by the familiar smell of fresh scones and tea. The familiarity of that smell brought a smile to my face, I had grown accustomed to it. This could only mean that Kerys had come in early, as per usual. Kerys' mother was a chef, and her father was a part of the FBI. She was a transfer student from England and is quite a frightening female to come across at times.
I strolled over to the long glass table and took a seat at my usual place. I looked around a little at the sun pouring through the glass walls, and the plants that filled the room. It was like a large greenhouse with a kitchen around back.
"Hey, Ryu!" Two voices called. I looked up from the table to see Rin and her twin brother, Kai, standing in front of me, their brown eyes sparkling. The twns were the children of two very talented musicians. Both of them were reasonably short.
Rin pulled out a chair and sat down, her short chestnut curls bouncing as she did so. Kai stood behind her, leaning on her chair, "It's been a while. How are you?"
"I'm pretty good. Been working hard as ever. Yourself?"
"As to be expected from the 1st ranked pupil," Kai began, "I'm okay. Got a little bored over the vacation though."
I nodded understandingly, and it went quiet again. The only sound was Kerys working away in the kitchen, preparing for the rest of the arrivals.
The atmosphere in the glass house was always incredible. The varied characteristics always created an interesting and variable environment. Sure, we had some clashing personalities, but it was all with good intention and to be fair, quite comical.
"Guuuuys~ I'm starving! Hurry up with the food, Kerys! It better be good, I swear!"
I looked over to see Yoru waddling over. Yoru was definitely the most troublesome one of us all. Yoru and Kerys fought as if tomorrow had no intent of coming. He's a good guy, though. Really genuine with a good sense of humour. Only that humour was a bit worn off on Kerys. Everything about Yoru was a little less than standard. His shirt was untucked, his tie was tied loosely, his dark hair was scruffy and covered his eyes a little, and he point blank refused to wear a cardigan. Yoru didn't belong to a particularly wealthy or famous family, but believe it or not, his grades were a lot higher than that of an average students.
"Shut up, you bum!" Kerys called from the kitchen, "You're eating last!"
Yoru moaned and slumped down on the seat to the left of Rin. Kai moved over and took the seat to the right of her. I was sat across the table from Yoru with two empty seats to my left.
