"SON OF A BITCH!"
"How the hell did we fall for that?" (Y/B/F) groaned as she facepalmed.
"More importantly," Brendon spoke, frantically moving his head around in search of an attendant, "how the hell do we stop this thing? Hey!"
He jogged over to a uniformed guy standing not too far away.
"There's been a mistake. My friend and I," he gestured at (Y/B/F), "got on the wrong boat. Is there any way that we can get off?"
"May I see your tickets?" Brendon reluctantly fished the tickets out of his jeans pocket and handed it over. The guy frowned as he expected them. "Sir, you're on the right boat."
"No, no, you don't understand," Brendon said frustratedly, running a hand through his hair. "Our friends bought us tickets for the wrong boat. We need to get off!"
The attendant shook his head and shrugged apologetically. "I'm sorry, sir. But you have tickets for this boat trip, and tickets aren't interchangeable. And even if they were, we've already set sail - there's no way off now."
Brendon's eye twitched as he gave the guy a blank stare. (Y/B/F) interjected.
"We understand," she nodded, gripping Brendon's arm and dragging him away, "thank you for your help."
Brendon scoffed. "What help? He was useless!"
(Y/B/F) squeezed his arm and widened her eyes at the singer. "Stop it. It's not his fault. It's Ryan and (Y/N)'s. And," she sighed as they both slunk into their seats, "I guess it's kinda ours, too. We have been pretty intense with our meddling."
"Well, yeah, but that's only because we're trying to protect them," Brendon voiced before chuckling slightly, "but they're too busy getting lost in each other's eyes to notice."
(Y/B/F) nodded in agreement and the two sat in silence until she spoke a few seconds later. "They are really cute, though. You have to admit."
"They're fucking adorable," Brendon mumbled, huffing as he propped his elbows on his knees and held his head in his hands. "That's the problem."
"Do you think..." (Y/B/F) hesitated, biting her lip before continuing, "maybe we should back off a bit? Not entirely off, just a smidge, so that we can avoid something like this from happening again," she added the last part when Brendon turned to her with clear disapproval on his face.
Brendon looked out at the beautiful ocean as he contemplated his companion's suggestion. "You're right. If we're going to continue meddling, we have to actually be with them. But what if they take that as a cue to continue with their... whatever it is?"
"Oh, they definitely will. We'll just have to continue to try and talk them out of it. And if it goes too far, we'll go back to full-on meddling."
Brendon nodded. "He really likes her, you know," he said softly.
"She really likes him, too."
"They're still assholes for doing this, though."
"Absolutely. I hope they have an awful ride."
"Yeah. Hopefully one of them will get seasick and barf all over the other."
The two looked at each other before laughing, shrugging and resigning to just relaxing into their seats and attempting to enjoy the ride.
