Harry

I’ve put my alarm clock to 6:30 AM. I had to leave the hotel at 7:30 so I’d be able to catch my flight back home at 8:45.

It’s almost midnight now and I can’t sleep. I’m staring at the ceiling, not being able to think of anything but Aimée.

I hate how things got so out of hand, out of my control. I never thought something like this would actually happen. I never even thought I’d meet her someday. It was all too good to be true. She was just something for me to dream about.

Now she is reality. A reality that I can touch and kiss, but not yet call mine.

I wonder if she’s thinking about me… I smile when I think about her. The way she smiles shyly and the way she laughs aloud throwing her head back, loving my jokes. The way she stares at me, wondering something I’d pay everything to know about. The birthmark she has on her arms that no one ever notices. The way she loves to dance to The Beatles with her eyes closed as if no one was looking…

A weird light and a buzzing sound got my attention. My phone was ringing. I grabbed it and looked at the screen.

Pretty Girl is calling…

I immediately pick it up.

“Aimée?” I said, worried. “Did something happen? Are you alright?”

I’m on the edge, worrying that something might have happened, that her mother found out about our secret, that she’s in trouble because of me when… she started laughing.

“You worry too much, curly one.” Aimée said, with a sleepy voice and childish laugh.

With only a few words she was able to make all the weight of the world disappear and make me smile widely.

“Do you realize it’s about to be 00:30 AM?” I joked. She knew I loved to talk to her, no matter the time.

“Oh, did I wake you up?” She asked a little worried. I smiled.

“No… I was awake.”

“What kept you up?” I could hear the grin on her voice. She knew the answer but wanted to hear it from me.

“I was thinking about you,” I say and she sighs.

“What exactly?” She plays with me and I smirk. “Be a little more specific”

“Tease” I said. She laughed.

“Well I wasn’t thinking about you…” She told and I frowned. “I was having this amazing dream with you and then something woke me up… I’m sad. I want to go back to the dream.”

“Tell me about it…” I asked with a smirk on my face.

“No. That’s too much. You can’t handle it.” She said and I felt my skin heating.

“Come on, love” I asked almost in a whisper.

“I dreamed that we ran away from everything and everyone. We were in Italy, country Italy, in this cute little hotel in the middle of nowhere, where no one would recognize us…” She started and I smiled peacefully dreaming awake about what she was saying. “Then I could have you all to myself.”

“Tease” I said it again, she chuckled.

“I’ll miss you.” She said and I sighed, closing my eyes, enjoying the sound of her voice saying that.

“I’ll miss you.” I said back. “I’ll be back as soon as possible”

“You could always bring me a souvenir. A little phone cabin or a little London Eye…” she joked and I laughed.

“Surely. I’ll see if I can find you a good old post card.” I joked with her.

“Promise me one thing…” She said and I sat on my bed, smiling to myself and feeling like a teenager blindly in love.

“Anything, love” I said.

“When I go to London… One day… You’ll show me around.” She said and I smiled with her curiosity of my home. “I hate going to places and only seeing the touristic points. Seems so shallow. Also… I feel like there’s so much of you for me to learn… I want to start with where you came from”

“I can always show you my home town,” I said. “It’s lovely… I think you’ll like it. It’s the opposite of Los Angeles, but you’ll feel at peace”

“Opposite of LA? I love it already” She said and made me smile. For a moment I pictured her in my mom’s house talking to her and Gemma, part of the family.

My wonder was interrupted by her voice. “Sometimes I feel like I’m dreaming when I am with you.”

I gasped at that confession, feeling happy that I wasn’t the only one in this thinking that it was all too good to be true.

“Sometimes I wish we were normal. That I’ve met you by mistake as you were an exchange student and I totally fell in love with your accent and cute hair,” Aimée laughed while imagining it, but then stopped for a while and kept silent. When I was about to ask if she was still there, she continued. “Would you like me if I wasn’t who I am? I mean… If I was just an ordinary girl and you were the rock star you are?”

“I wouldn’t even think twice.” I answered it, certain of what I was saying.

I could hear the smile on her voice. “Liar…”

“I never lie to you,” I confess and I hear a little gasp.

“Stop, please” She said and I felt confused.

“Stop what, love?”

“Making me fall in love with you…” Aimée whispered on the other end.

“Only if you stop it too.” She chuckled as I said it and I smiled.

We kept talking until it was almost three in the morning. Only hanging up because she forced me to get some sleep. That night I dreamed about running away with Aimée, hiding in a little house in Cheshire, near my mom’s, pretending for a day that we were just a normal couple who happened to fall in love with each other by fate.
