Talia:
"Oh my God is that a hickey?" Cole gushed the moment he saw me walking into the kitchen.
Luckily, there was no one in the kitchen; all the maids were outside. I rolled my eyes at him and he smirked.
"Argh you reek of Kayden," he said as I passed him.
I glared at him and he shot me another smirk.
"So, did you guys make up?" He asked seriously.
I nodded and turned to sit with him after I'd grabbed some cereal.
"That's good." He said and began to nervously scratch his neck. "Um-did he say anything about Emily?"
I stopped chewing and looked at him. That was when it hit me.
"Fohh...my gafd fyou fike fher," I gushed, completely ignoring the fact that my mouth was full of food.
Cole cringed. "Jesus Talia, couldn't you have swallowed your food first?"
I chewed and swallowed my food as quickly as I could. "I'm sorry-you caught me by surprise. I was just dying to know. So...?"
He turned away from me and began walking towards the sink in silence. My gaze followed him and I knew it was making him uncomfortable.
"What is it Talia?" He groaned, finally giving up.
"Do you like her?" I asked.
He paused for a moment before answering. "It's hard not to, for she is my mate."
"Your what now?" I asked.
He hissed, probably realising he had said what he wasn't meant to. "I marked her by mistake on her thirteenth birthday. It's irreversible, so we are stuck together forever-not that I mind, of course. I just wish I could be able to see her twenty-one year old self. It kinda gets frustrating to keep seeing your mate in a fourteen year old's body." He grunted and I nodded but remained quiet.
I wasn't quiet because I had nothing to say; I was quiet because there was now something bothering me.
Did Kayden have a mate?
"No, he doesn't. He hasn't marked anyone yet." Cole's voice suddenly chipped in and I swear I almost buried my face into my cereal in embarrassment.
"Fucking mind reading idiots." I muttered. Cole burst out laughing as he came to sit back down next to me.
"I don't think Kayden would appreciate being called an 'Idiot.'" Cole said.
"Of course not, that's why you are not going to tell him." I said cheekily.
Cole laughed again at my response. He was about to reply, but his phone interjected.
I decided not to be rude by listening in on his conversation, so I stood and took my bowl to the sink.
"Fuuuck!" Cole growled as he hung up. I turned to look at him, worried that he had heard something bad about Kayden and Emily.
"Cole?" I asked. He knew what I was asking. I did not need to elaborate.
"Kayden is coming back in a few hours," he whispered. The pain in his voice was evident - it pierced my heart.
"Emily..." I breathed.
I saw a tear rolling down his cheeks, and I felt my weak, almost falling to the floor.
"She died in the process of turning her into a full vampire." He whispered
"Oh my God," I said in a whisper.
Cole stood up from the kitchen chair and walked out of the kitchen quietly. I wanted to follow him, but I couldn't. I did not have the power nor strength.
