I dragged my feet on my carpet and went to get ready for the day. I had work and I was really not looking forward to it. I hadn't slept all night because of the fear of dreaming. I would doze off for not even 5 minutes and instantly be awake. I couldn't afford to be scared of these dreams anymore. Sleeping was endangering any chance I had of coming out alive.
I went over to the mirror and looked at myself. I looked fucking terrible. I had rings under my eyes and my eye lids felt like closing. I shook my head and began scanning my closet. I needed to keep my mind off everything and maybe work was the best place to do so.
I walked into work and clocked in. I grabbed my apron and notepad. I ignored every single person who tried to talk to me because they weren't worth my little energy I had left. I trudged into the cafe and scanned the room for tables waiting. Then, a mountain of colorful hair caught my eye. Dahvie.
He hadn't texted me back and I was so worried he was going to decide I wasn't worth his time. I bet he was waiting to dumb me right there and now. I dragged my feet to the table and decided to accept my fate. My life depended on what happened right now.
"Hey." I said giving a sleepy smile. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you." He said. He honestly looked really adorable today. He had a bandanna around his forehead, making his hair even bigger and spiky. He had war paint stripes on his face and a thick layer of eye liner around both eyes. He was wearing just a black t-shirt, with some red cut offs. It was normal Dahvie clothing but just something about him made me smile.
I sat in the seat across from him and made sure the people from the kitchen couldn't see me. "Good cause I needed to see you too. We need to talk."
Dahvie sighed. "Please don't say you want to end this because I'll feel really stupid."
I felt my lip curl. "You don't want to end this either?"
"Thank god." He sighed again, but he sounded relived. I saw his lips form a smile and he reached out for my hands. I let him take them. "So far, I really like you. I don't want to end what we have over a fight. You're not an easy type of girl to find."
I bit my lip. "You're not that easy to find either. I can't tell you how hard it's been trying to find a guy who dyes his hair 30 different colors and puts makeup on like hes going in to battle."
He laughed. "It's actually 3 right now but 30 is close enough."
I smiled. "How about after work, you and I go somewhere. I know you probably have questions and I promise that I'll answer them. I'm ready now."
"Sounds good." He said with a smile. He stood up and so did I. "I won't make you tell me anything you don't want to, I promise."
"Thanks but I promised myself I would. I'll answer anything, okay?" I wanted him to feel like I trusted him. Even though this seemed like a sappy little moment, I only had one thing on my mind. Staying alive.
"Okay." He agreed. He kissed me on my cheek and gave me a small hug. I watched him walk out with a stupid grin on my face.
~~~~ After Work~~~~
I stood outside of the diner. It was 8 a' clock and he said he'd be here. I looked around and he was no where in sight. It was getting dark out and I feared being alone in the dark. It just bought back the worst memories.
I looked down at my phone and scrolled through my messages. Most of them were from my friends and family. They would text me and call so much now but I never cared to answer. Honestly, I kind of just shut everyone out. Don't ask why, I don't really have an answer. It started back when I wa-
