Jamie struggled with the large stack of books in his hands as he attempted traveling up the stairs without dying. The heavy textbooks blocked his view and the sweat in his eyes made it difficult to see. He huffed and puffed while stepping slowly and feeling with his feet where the next step would be. The journey was tedious and he felt nervous that he would somehow slip and die. But he was also determined to deliver the books to the teacher in need.

Being an office assistant was a trying job for Jamie. It involved a lot of walking and stairs.... Oh the stairs. But it was something he loved to do. He loved helping, even if they were minute tasks, they made him feel needed and he enjoyed the walks around school without the loud rambunctious teenagers that had had a tendency to bump into Jamie's large frame.

Jamie knew he was large. He knew he had a bit of a weight problem..... OK, a lot of a weight problem, but it wasn't entirely his fault. Genetically, his family had a history of gaining weight easily yet finding it difficult to lose weight. Though, Jamie's habit of late night snacking, stressing eating and eating out of boredom didn't help at all. Jamie's father, the perpetrator, wasn't as large as Jamie due to his own strict diet. People often looked down upon Jamie when their family went out. He had little self control when it came to food, but the rest of his family had lovely figures to compliment their sharp delicate features. Even his father could be described as beautiful with his strong jawline, yet smooth pale skin that trademarked the entire family. And then there was Jamie. His skin was pale, sure. But it made him look sickly most of the time. His skin was far from smooth due to excessive sweating, which caused ance, a far cry from attractive, and while he didn't smell, no one tried to get near him as though he did smell. And the braces that harnessed his mouth made him spit like a champ. Life was tough from Jamie, but he didn't mind, he had a few good friends that didn't judge him based on his appearance and loved him dearly despite his many faults.

Sandra was his oldest friend. They had met in middle school when they had both struggled during the mile run in PE and had chosen to encourage each other to the finish line. Neither managed to meet the required 8 minute mark for the run but they had gained a friendship that lasted for the next six years.

Roy came into the picture during their freshman year. He had been one of the few people who had chosen to do the English practice exam for extra credit and they had met there. Soon enough, he had managed to join their little group of weebs.

That was mainly the subject of talk at their table. Anime and manga was their favorite pass time at any moment and they all had a different appreciation for each show. Roy had a passion for the graphics, especially those in action anime. Sandra was a romance geek. She absolutely loved ships and carefully analyzing the pros and cons of each ship. Jamie loved the plot lines overall. He enjoyed the uniqueness of every show and how they flowed. They would all sit at their spot in the library and simply educate one another on the importance of each element. Roy and Sandra would often get into long arguments over which anime was better. Jamie played referee between the two but his soft hearted nature would typically leave him stuck in between the two while they argues over his head.

Despite his large frame, Jamie himself was actually quite short. He wasn't taller than 5'6 and would probably be shorter if he weighed much less.

Now back to Jamie's trying adventure.

Jamie, thankfully, managed to deliver the textbooks without dying but his arms were sore and hurting on the way back to the attendance office. Entering the room he greeted a parent waiting at the counter and entered the backroom where his next task waited.

His main job was deliveries and he knew what to deliver, when and to whom based on a bulletin board separated by period and each note listing which teacher it must go to.

Jamie grabbed the next pile of notes on the list and headed towards Ms.Brandy, the office lady, and let her know he had returned and was headed out again. She simply smiled at him and nodded before returning to the parent who patiently waited for her.

Jamie walked towards the door, analyzing the names of the teachers and classrooms, deciding the best route to take, trying his best to avoid going up and down the stairs repeatedly. His concentration on the papers made him fail to see the large wall like figure coming straight for him from the door.

Jamie grunted as his butt smashed against the floor and the papers in his hand flew across the floor. Groaning at the feeling of his butt bones being completely shattered, he looked up at the figure to apologize for not looking. But before Jamie could get a word out, the figure squatted down next to him and began speaking.

"Tsk, can't you see where you're going? You're lucky it was me you bumped into and not someone else. Your tub of lard would have killed someone else. You should probably invest in something called a gym. Maybe you'll actually be able to fit through the door without sucking it in." The handsome face of Norman Wiles came into view, as the door closed behind him and the blinding light outside faded. Jamie sat with his mouth stuttering, trying to process the words Norman had spoken. But Norman didn't wait a beat before standing up and walking over to the fallen papers and collecting them. He placed them on the floor next to Jamie with an insincere smile.

"...sorry?" Jamie's words came out slurred due to the thick braces crowding his mouth. Norman had already turned to Ms.Brandy, who had been too far away to hear what was spoken.

Jamie collected himself and the neat pile of slips next to him and left the office in a daze. His plan for distributing the notes was completely gone and he didn't quite understand that he had been insulted until he reached the next building over. As Jamie thought about the words Norman had spoken, he felt something warm hit his cheeks and begin to drip off his chin.

He blinked in shock at the tears that stained his reddening cheeks. He felt a pain in his chest at the harsh words spoken to him. He wiped his tears and smiled despite the pain and told himself. It's OK, Jamie. He's right. You probably would have knocked down anyone else and he's thoughtful to recommend I join a gym.

Jamie knew those words weren't meant that way, but he's rather think of them in a good light than to suffer knowing someone had intentionally tried to harm him. Jamie wiped away the last of the tears and tapped his cheeks to clear his head. Looking down at the papers in his hand, he went on delivering the notes. At one point, he'd even escorted a lost parent to the destined classroom and by the time he had returned to his small table in the corner of the attendance office, he had completely forgotten about the terrible words spoken to him only half an hour earlier.
