There once was a young man who had the power to tell time. He could tell from the moment that someone was born until the very second, they died. Whenever he met someone, he couldn't bare the thought that one day he might lose them. He couldn't bare the thought that he would be the person to outlive them, he started to feel numb. He never allowed himself to get close to anyone. He had the nature of a zombie, not really living, but only feeling his heart hum.

He came upon the realization that humans are so fickle. They arise only to focus on the most insignificant details, focus on greed, focus on the common heart's desires, focus on fantasies; and then they die with regrets. Humans are so weak, and they die so easily. It's only when they die, do they treasure their life. See this young man hated humans and their barbaric nature; but below the surface of his unfilled rage, lies envy; making his own heart brittle.

He remains envious because they have the one ability he desires most, death. Most humans are frightened by the hand of the reaper, but he welcomes it, like a lost friend. This young man doesn't fear death, but immortality. He fears the fact that he'll remain on Earth for all eternity; never floating into the great white light, or being casted down into fiery pits; but remaining in perfect purgatory. Humans focus on what comes after death, but he isn't even familiar with sleep. He fills his time with collecting time. Making sure the Sun rises and the Moon submits; making sure he collects lost souls.

There once was a God that told time and his name was Amser; and this is the tale of how a God once fell in love with a Human named Fayre; and how he lost her.
